I played another roguelite FPS so bad that I actually felt the urge to come back and leave a proper review for this game.

Roboquest is to other games in the genre in the same way that a good restaurant-quality hamburger is to a bulk food service frozen patty that your stepdad chars to annihilation on the grill. You can dress it up; hell, if your stepdad doesn't completely carbonize it, it might even be enjoyable. A little ketchup and pickle goes a long way. If this is all you've ever had, it's great! But if you've had an Excellent Burger, you know that even a good burger pales in comparison. Other games in the genre fall between "pretty good" and "bad". If you haven't played Roboquest, you might really enjoy these games! But after Roboquest, you will know something is missing. You will yearn for Roboquest. You might still have fun, but you'll know that you can do better.

Roboquest is the platinum standard. Pretty much every other iteration on the roguelite FPS formula I've played has fallen short in some way; typically, they end up feeling slow and plodding, unwilling to let the player engage in any actual Action. When I'm playing one of these other games, frequently the train of thought I'm experiencing is this: "I could be playing Roboquest. Why am I not playing Roboquest? Why has the dev team for this game clearly not played Roboquest? Anybody who plays [this other game] after playing Roboquest will know that something is wrong."

Roboquest gets my heart pumping every time I play it; the music, the visual design, the weapon variety - but most importantly, the speed and action. Roboquest takes some of the best parts of games like DOOM Eternal and Dead Cells and polishes them to a mirror finish. Once you know the systems, you can sail through levels; even early on, before you unlock some of the movement options and other gadgets, Roboquest is a joy to control. Sometimes at easier difficulties I like to just grind on the rails in levels for a few minutes.

Any complaints I could make here would be, frankly, petty. I think the only real complaint I can make is that some of the weapons are not my favorite - and "some" is like, less than five weapons out of 83. Any other complaints I have really boil down to that I wish there was more Roboquest to enjoy. More classes, more weapons, more enemies, more bosses, more levels.

This is a Good Video Game. Purchase this video game. Purchase it for your friends. Have a good time playing video games, with Roboquest. Give Roboquest a kiss.

Slow! An agonizingly slow game. If it gets better, I'm not sticking around for the rest of it. I would have played the hell out of this in 2012 or something, but man. It looks fine, it controls okay, but the core gameplay loop is... weak. No real gunfeel, the only challenging enemies I faced were easily defeated by circlestrafing. The map generation isn't particularly intelligent and will frequently give you a corridor that enemies can't possibly sneak up on you through.

This game would hit different if you haven't played something like Roboquest, I guess? There are a ton of roguelite FPSes to work through that are more immediately captivating than this. Maybe this is worthwhile if other games are too tough for you, or if you really enjoy "+10% primary weapon damage" in your games.

Quality movement, fun little challenges. Hope the dev adds more over time! But a delicious 15-ish hour game as-is.

Feels like a fever dream. Fascinating combination of twin-stick shooter and roguelite gameplay... and also, momentum-based mechanics. Still needs a few things like some accessibility options and controller remapping, but hoo boy. It sure can game.

N++ has challenging gameplay that constantly invites you to push yourself to the limit, beautiful and simple graphics, and a soundtrack that perfectly matches the game's atmosphere.
