Another phenomenal iteration to the best JRPG world.

The group, while not my personal favorite is varied enough that everyone should find one or two peeps they enjoy. For myself, Van has become one of my favorite protagonists, and characters, of the series. The mystery behind his past and his street smarts are a joy to explore as he strolls through the odd jobs helping people who don't want to or can't get the authorities involved. His three loves in life — sweets, cars and baths — are a fantastic addition to make an already intriguing character so much more "alive". A simple idea, but one that many games and stories could learn from.

The main story itself — in the typical trails fashion — is one of escalating stakes, improbable odds, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fights, and with more twists than a mountain pass. A trail's story through and true; what's not to love.

The world building, as always, is rich with fantastic "NPCs" (perhaps the best set in the series), references to previous games and bits of lore about event we have been introduced to years ago.

The game-play sees some innovation and change from the previous iterations, but overall retains the core of the series. While faster and less annoying due to lack of certain status effects, it lacks in the variety of builds, and to some degree, depth. Still, with this new system, I've found myself less annoyed with long dungeons and less reliant on turbo mode.
If you want to win, just stack Van with CP increase and regeneration gear and just spam S-crafts to win.

Music is top tier. What else did you expect?

All in All, Trails/10.

P.S. Copium for Kai release date late 2025.

Fantastic gameplay that make even martials fun via potions, scrolls, arrows and magical items.
Gripping story that ramps up in scale and gandeur.
But best of all are the characters and the sheer ludicrous amount of dialog for just about any situation imaginable, some of which very few people will ever get to experience.
Top it off with some fantastic and fully optional fights (House of Hope slapped real hard).

Great stylish game with no wasted time or space. Every bit keeps you engaged or adds to the world. Things kinda sad doe.

Apart from some issues here and there, the game is great and fun and very cheap.
