Resource gathering is PAINFULLY slow with requirements astronomically high for build costs.

Even with the "magic" to harvest with, it only does 1 stage of it. For example, lets say you want wood. In 99.9% of survival games you pick up wood off the ground, or chop down a tree for wood. Simple.

In DragonWilds, If you want wood you have 2 options. Chop tree, or pick up sticks. Sounds the same right? Wrong. Chopping a tree down isn't as simple as it sounds, its not just "Chop tree-> Get logs" like it is in every other survival game on the market. Instead its:
"Chop Tree-> Tree becomes a log on the ground-> Chop log on the ground-> Log breaks off 1/4 chunk-> Chop the 1/4 chunk->Get Logs->Rinse repeat for the other 3/4 of the tree and then forever for wood" Using the spectral axe will allow you to skip the initial tree chop step ONLY, with a 45 second cooldown, making it pretty useless.

Ontop of this, when you are first starting out, your tree cutting skill is 0 so you have no bonuses. They locked the ability to swing the axe over head for a downward strike behind leveling up your woodcutting skill. This means that after you do the initial chopping of the tree, you do reduced damage to the log on the ground, making it take EVEN LONGER to chop that log down into quarters and then logs.

You will become over encumbered with approximately 40 logs. its 4 logs per basic T1 building piece. You spend 20-30 mins chopping trees with the stupid restrictions to only be able to build 10 walls/floors/doors/etc. It will take you at least 3 hours to get your basic starting shack built and equipped with the starter stuff.

Now onto the dragon, The dragon harasses the players RELENTLESSLY from the start with absolutely NO WAY to counter or hide from the dragon. Your entire base will be flooded with acid and you will die over and over again. Hiding indoors does nothing, the dragons acid just phases through all player structures and only clips with the hard coded terrain. Expect to be spawn camped by the dragon at least 2-3 times per hour.

Your hunger and thirst also drop at offensive fast rates. Why do i need to drink every 5 mins or else i start dying of thirst? Why do i need to eat every 15 mins or else i start dying of hunger? With the abysmally low gathering rates and the oppressively high resource requirements, this game is designed to punish the player for simply playing the game. There is no respect for player time, updates have NOT been addressing any core issue with the game.

Like how the horrible RuneScape was managed, This is no better, and only the people who never experienced real gaming (the children and people mentally children that still play OSRS) defend this pile.

If you enjoy roguelikes, its great

If you play the Warfare mode, its like playing Battlefield and pretty fun.

If you play Operations, the extraction shooter side, its full of hackers and not fun at all.

Warfare is popping with people, never wait more than 10 seconds for a match.

EDIT(6/19/25):

Since no one plays Operations, all the 12 year old/chinese hacking scum has come over to Warfare mode now. Be prepared to be spawn camped by a kid outside of map bounds that has lazer accuracy through a 1 pixel gap at 1200m out. Get ready to have medics with a shot gun counter snipe you from over 500m away, get ready to have people flying around through the air and just insta-killing everyone who they see. I went from reporting 1 person every few days, to having to report over 70% of the opposing team for hacking. Most of the time the hackers will wait until the final objective (if they are losing) to turn on their hacks then suddenly, a team that couldnt hold a position for more than 30 seconds is completely unstoppable, immune to all damage and can shoot through walls like its nothing. Uninstalled this trash.

THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT THIS GAME IS NOW THE BLACK HAWK DOWN CAMPAIGN REMAKE. NOTHING ELSE IS WORTH THE TIME.

Yeah just no. This is a horrible mobile port, the UI is disgusting for PC users and navigation is worse than trying to navigate EVE's many menus.

I remember when Torchlight was actually a good game and not a poorly made chinese mobile slot machine, the chinese ruin literally everything they touch.

again hides behind bad performance and poor mechanics under the guise of "being hard"

the games not hard, they just made a bunch of anti-player mechanics that 1 shot you 100% of the time before the animation even gets played, and call that difficulty.

Only 20% of people who have played this game have ever completed the 10-step tutorial. That alone shows how bad this game is when 80% of people who try it cant even be bothered to do 10 things in the first 5 mins.

Its boring as hell, Slow as hell, crafting is more convoluted than a mid 90s MMO and is packed with time sinks designed to fluff play time while adding exactly 0 to the game. Its designed to be non-refundable by making the beginning so painfully slow that by the time you realize just how bad this game actually is, they've taken your money and ran. Luckily I've played 1,000s of games by this point in my life and can spot a scam and waited until a free weekend, which confirmed my suspicions.

Its a horribly bad attempt to clone Rim World while adding a Stardew-Valley esq survival aspect with some extremely light RPG content (if it can even be considered RPG content). It does nothing it sets out to at even a remotely passable level. This game would be entertaining to a 5-10 year old who has never experienced a well developed game and only wants to look at stuff. If you are older than 10, you are better off playing Rim World that's far superior to this.

Indy looks and sounds like Harrison Ford in The Temple of Doom. The punching sound effects are the typical waa-pshh from the 80s.

This is what Tomb Raider and Uncharted aspired to be. The imitators have been shown how its done.

Imagine playing a Tomb Raider where Luara wasnt a homicidal maniac just murdering hundreds of people, where puzzles were actually smartly designed and intuitive even though there is no explanations, Thats this game.

This plays like an Indiana Jones movie, and that is awesome.

Graphically the game is beautiful, and absolutely NO performance issues in the slightest, buttery smooth 120+FPS at 1440p
