Planescape: Torment is my favorite C-RPG by far! Maybe even my favorite game of all time. This game features the best writing i've ever seen in video game history. You could pull the script, edit it into book form and win a best-seller title. I'll never forget this amazing and horrid universe, the well written characters and the astonishing soundtrack. I loved the story and how in the unknown you are as a player until the very end. The game is so interactive especially for its age and you decide how you'll treat the people around you, who you assemble in your team and what places you want to explore which all affects your playthrough. It takes multiple playthroughs to discover everything even with good saves. I'm sure i'll watch a lot of Youtube videos about the story since i missed a lot even though i was thorough. The save system is also well made and doesn't always completely overwrite older saves; even after completing the game i could go way back to certain locations with old saves and get missing achievements or explore parts i missed. Now, while the game is very close to being perfect in terms of story and world building this port definitely has its flaws. 1. The game crashes frequently; i'd say at least once per session you're playing. It's not the biggest deal as it mostly only happens when quick saving so you can just launch that save and continue playing; but with 90 hours playtime it does get a little frustrating. 2. The markers are so buggy. In-game locations on the maps are marked for player convenience and you can create your own marks too; but those custom marks very often duplicate and insert themselves on other maps making the marker tool completely useless. Again, it wasn't the biggest deal for me but it was annoying. 3. The Silent King quest was bugged and i didn't get to experience it; kinda sucked but not a huge deal. 4. I think the quests in your journal sometimes ends too soon. Usually a quest is built out of 3 parts; request, quest, reward. I often experienced completing the quest to then lose the journal entry before getting to the NPC that requested it and thereby losing the last xp dialogue. 5. You'll be sure to get stuck in the Foundry section of the game. Since it's mandatory to explore i'd have hoped to have better journaling for that part of the game which brings me to my next point: 6. The pre-written journal. I do enjoy the journal updating by itself; but you're not able to write your own entries like in Baldur's Gate 1 and 2. It's easy to forget where certain NPC's are, items you misplaced, story clues etc. and since the journal doesn't always cover everything it'd have been nice to have custom entries. 7. The entrance to The Fortress Of Regrets is stupid simply put. I won't spoil the location of the portal but even when getting the information where it's located you very likely won't find it without either being lucky or using a guide. If the portal at least was visible i'd have prefered that way more. 8. I also encountered an "encumbered bug" where i'd not be able to move even after dropping my entire inventory but it was fixed by reloading the save. Now, you're probably thinking to yourself "that was a lot of criticism for a game you just said was your favorite game" and to that i say YES! But with perfection there's bound to be criticism. Critisism is an honor for game developers; because it means that people cared about their product. And i'd love for Beamdog to fix the bugs and improve the game because Planescape really deserves it.
