Misaka Mikoto 御坂 美琴 (borned May 2) is one of the main heroines in Toaru Majutsu no Index and the main protagonist of Toaru Kagaku no Railgun .

She is the third ranked Level 5 Esper in Academy City.
As an Electromaster , she can generate and control electricity, hack into electronics and use electromagnetism to cling on surfaces or manipulate iron particles into a chain-sword whip. Her signature move is her ability to shoot metal projectiles at extremely destructive speeds, hence her nickname - Railgun 超電磁砲

She enrolls in Tokiwadai Middle School - Being a Level 5 Esper as well as a student with consistently high grades, Mikoto is known as Tokiwadai's Ace
