i have almost 1000 hours in this game, but the recent addition of BattleEye effectively prevents me from playing as a Linux user. Yes, the game could use anti-cheat as cheaters and modders still plague public lobbies, but preventing legitimate users from playing the game should not be condoned.

Is this the greatest game ever? I would say it is way up there in the running.

Immersive story, good gamplay, hack-and-slash combat, deep and vaired NPC's, and hundreds of easily installed mods combine to make this an extremely satisfying play experience. There are still several bugs (many have been fixed by the community and are available as mods), but these can be easily overlooked, and are not gamebreaking. My only wish is that I could have played it on a better PC so I could have seen the full expereince of the graphics.

Conclusion: Play this game. No excuses.

Update: Years Later
I have played on a better PC. All my wishes are fulfilled.

Update 2: Another Year Goes By
After the release of SSE, I figured I'd be playing a bunch of the newer version. However, (and as is to be expected), some of my favorite mods took some time to make the jump. It's getting to the point, though, that the scripting support is there to make our dreams a reality.

Do you like smashing things? Do you like blowing things up? Do you like getting to run stuff over and smash more stuff and blow more stuff up? Then you will enjoy this game.

A few cons I had were that the story was not great and that it would have been much better with a first-person viewpoint, but all in all, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
