I was so excited about this game, played a lot of World. Sadly, this game is so far from MH:World it is actually laughable. Awful textures, stuttering, low fps even on lower gfx settings. I tried the benchmark and it ran quite well. As soon as I got to the forest area, my fps dropped to around 20 and the game was significantly struggling and stuttering. Until these performance issues are patched, I cannot recommend this game, because I literally can't even play it. Sadly it took me 6 hours to get to that forest so I cannot get a refund.

Good but tons of errors, this review mostly deals with online as that's the bulk of my experience, having played through the single player on a different console when it first came out. Considering how much they're making off the players the internet is abysmal, always losing connection (at least once per session) and in my 50 hours of playing I've had at least 3 hard crashes to desktop. When you do get back in, the load times are insane. You have to wait 3-5 minutes to connect to a server, only for it not to automatically pair friends together, meaning you log on, then immediately have to navigate to the switch to friends menu. Tons of hackers/modders which can make playing online frustrating and difficult, this isn't exactly a fault of the developers but I'm sure more could be done to combat this as there's been a hacker in every session I've had so far, and we've had to switch servers several times to avoid them. The UI is pretty awful, lots hidden behind menus and isn't always clear how to find the things you need. If there's a way to report players, I haven't found it yet, and it seems some words have been filtered and others can't, so while cursing is asterisked, racial slurs aren't. Overall, it's an old game and it shows.

That being said, when it does work it's hilarious. The writing is sharp and some of the npc interactions are really funny. The races are good, lots of variety and usually quite quick to find players to race with. Heists are fun and require a lot of co-op, it's nice to have a PvE style option so me and my friends enjoy that a lot. The casino they added is good too, I've not done the heist for it yet but I expect good things. Theres tons of content and lots to keep your interest while playing. I just wish they would do more to address connection issues, issues with modders/hackers and do something to speed up the initial load, it shouldn't take upwards of 5 minutes to join friends online, especially since more often than not we're all hard crashed to desktop or kicked off the server for connection issues within an hour or two of playing.

Got lost while drunk in town and couldn't find my way back to my house. I passed out and had to be taken home by the doctor, who charged me £50 for his service and lectured me to go to bed earlier.

10/10 real life simulator.
