Just Cause 2 is one of the most thrilling shooters that I have ever played in my life. No other third-person shooter has quite held my attention as much as this, with its incredible action-movie plot and its huge open world. A thumbs-up is simply not enough.

This game is incredible. What it lacks in variety is made up by the huge number of challenges, islands and vehicles that populate this huge open world. And it is huge. Very huge. All of the weapons have their good and bad points, and the ability to duel weild one-handed weapons is incredibly cool when you can juggle enemies in the air with a barrage of smg rounds. The explosions feel chunky and pack a real punch, and you will be seeing a lot of them on your journey round Panau. The island itself is beautiful, with lush green forests mixed up with deserts and alpine regions, all populated with various villages, challenges, missions and military bases.

However, some of these places lack variety. While the huge number of settlements is incredible, they lack variety. One village looks like the one next door, and a military base is a military base, no matter what way you look at it. Also, don't purchase this expecting some realistic driving mechanics either. The cars will react to the environment in a very action-movie way, which means that they cannot provide a realistic driving experience. However, Rico's grappling hook combined with his stunt parachute make a much better way of getting around.

Overall, Just Cause 2 provides a wide range of incredible action-movie moments, from jumping on cars and shooting the police's tyres out to make them flip over and explode, to making incredible vehicle jumps in order to escape the torrent of military soldiers on your tail. For its current price, as of writing, of £10, or £5 if you are in the Christmas sale, it is a must-buy. I myself have played over 100 hours (over a long period of time, of course), as I couldn't simply let the game go once I had completed the story. Causing chaos is just too good, I guess.
