It's like if Alien Isolation took place in the first half of a Resident Evil game. Not sure why this got so overlooked, it's good!

I was not ready for how heavily inspired this game is by the SNES Jurassic Park.

Like the first game, I think YMMV based on how much you like the aesthetic. I'm enjoying it so far!

However, it's UE5, so the performance is actual ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

The bulk of the game is a focus on exploration similar to Breath of the Wild, but with a more meditative and minimalist approach to the gameplay. There is no combat, no fall damage, no health, no fail states. Only an uncharted world with something new to discover over every dune. The narrative is a warmly presented journey of personal growth and leaving home that blends nicely with the open structure of the game. There are terrible performance issues (of the traversal stutter, frame pacing variety) but the content of the game is strong enough to make Sable worth checking out in spite of them.

I didn't hear the Koreans say "Yankee Shankee" even once, 0/10 remaster.

This is basically the Terminator franchise's 'Alien Isolation' moment, and it got totally slept on.

Has that "wide-linear" thing going on and at its best reminds me of Crysis, Metro, Stalker, Deus Ex etc. At its worst? Fallout 4 and Call of Duty. But the good heavily outweighs the bad and Terminator fans especially will find plenty to enjoy here.

Terrific art born from terrible pain.

Simple and dumb as hell but it gets the important parts very right. This is the guy who made Dusk, after all. Disposable gaming at its finest.

Super mid. Only worth your time if you're deep weeb.

A very good and fun game that has quite a few balance issues that will hopefully be fixed in future patches. If you approach this from the POV of a Dark Souls/Bloodborne/Elden Ring devotee, you're gonna have a bad time (the *only* DNA of those games that remains is in a handful of boss fight encounters). Instead, turn your brain off, blow some ♥♥♥♥ up, and have a good time. Periodt.
