***SOFT RECOMMENDATION // WAIT FOR A SALE***

Pros:
-Fun combat. While I miss Press Turn & One More from other sub-franchises, Sabbaths are fun. I just wish critical adds weren't locked behind upgrades and were in the system by default. Demon inheritance is a thing, but not every demon can learn every element. It's a shame, because the attribute system in SMTV seemed like the most fun way to balance demon builds. Beyond that, if you like MegaTen combat, you'll like it here too.
-Great characters. With how goofy most of the cast looked, I wasn't expecting much; perhaps that's why was blown away by the quality of the character writing. Each character has a unique perspective and character traits while still feeling reasonable why they'd help Ringo and without feeling one-note.

Cons:
-Ringo moves very slowly through dungeons. There is a speed boost skill you can get early on, but it doesn't last very long and is tedious to repeatedly activate.
-The dungeons are boring and repetitive. There aren't many dungeons in this game, and the ones that are feel very short and bland. There are two in particular that I consistently had to check against quest and demon locations because I could not tell them apart visually. MegaTen games typically have some interesting dungeon puzzles; there are only two of such in this game, and calling them puzzles feels like an overreach. They can be bruteforced very easily, and don't feel satisfying. I'm not asking for Nocturne-level warp dungeons, but a little more content would have gone a long way.
-The story is apparent within the first half-hour of gameplay. The character writing carries the entire game on its back.
-This game only feels loosely connected to Soul Hackers. There are a couple of character references and Soul Hacking happens. That's it.
-The music is serviceable. Disappointing when compared to Persona 5 and SMTV, the latest entries in the other two major Megaten franchises under Atlus' belt.

All in all, if Atlus was attempting to make Devil Summoner the third pillar in their roster, they failed. This game was underfunded, lacking in distinct content, and generally feels like it could have used more time in the oven.

DLC Rating:
-I have no opinion on costumes. It's pricey, but honestly changing the battle theme to the original Soul Hackers one was worth it to me.
-Demons being such expensive DLC-- ON LAUNCH-- is criminal. This game already wasn't given enough budget or time to come out well, and bad launch-day DLC practices only hurt this game even more.
--Lost Numbers is okay. Nana is a fun character, but all other associated content is either very short or insanely repetitive. The only highlight is the Superboss included in this DLC.
--Ring-ho should not have been DLC, much less locked to the DIGITAL DELUXE EDITION.

Recommendation: The game is fun, but not worth the $90 Atlus is asking for what feels like the "full" game. I still recommend buying it, but only with a good discount during a steam sale. Do not touch the DLC unless its discounted, and even then only buy The Lost Numbers.

The most polished YGO sim available, and I'd rate this positively for that alone. But be warned: Know what deck(s) you want to play going into this. Like most freemium games, you're given a deluge of gems up front and the income trickles down to practically nothing within a few days. You won't be able to build everything unless you're prepared to whale hard on this. This might change once the new ranked season starts and we start seeing events, but at the moment this game will be VERY frustrating if you're f2p.

It's fun, and at this point nostalgic, to play through the Mass Effect Trilogy again in one great bundle. The only issue I have with this game is that it can be VERY buggy; there were numerous times that I was forced to replay large chunks of the game because of AI getting stuck and being unable to progress, Shepard refusing to turn, and outright crashes. But over the course of 51 hours, things went right more often than they went wrong.

If you like Kairosoft's "Game Dev Story", you will love this game. So many options, great replayability, and a good learning curve that encourages you to keep experimenting a learn something with every new game you make!
