I bought this game hoping the Skirmish mode would be improved upon in order to play coop with friends, however there is no bot support whatsoever.

Only purchase if you're interested in the campaign or straight PvP!

The game is fun, but it's also often unbalanced and the community can sometimes be very toxic.

Carrion is a 2D game created by a small Polish studio and published by Devolver Digital.

In the game, you control a man eating monstrosity that is tasked with escaping an underground complex in which it is being held.

The gameplay is really smooth and enjoyable. The controls are VERY easy to learn and there are a couple of interesting ideas gameplay wise (like different abilities available only while at ceirtain levels of HP) and some cool puzzles that require some thought but definitely won't have you stuck for hours.

My biggest problem with this game is that it's 20 euros for something that I completed in 4 hours and it doesn't seem to have much replayability, however the sound design, artstyle and overall ULTRA creepy atmosphere are definitely worth experiencing.

I highly recommend you get this game, but I'd advise you wait for some kind of sale in the future, as the price tag is pretty hefty for such a short, linear game.

As a bonus, I think it has some speedrunning potential as it doesn't seem random if you're into that kind of thing.

Pros and cons listed at the end!

GTFO is created by a 9 person independent studio. It is a hardcore stealth based co-op shooter which relies heavily on teamwork and resource management.

You take the role of one of four prisoners sent against their will by a mysterious entity called The Warden, down into an abandoned complex infested by grotesque monsters. Your task is to navigate the system of caves and hallways in order to find whatever it is The Warden wants you to find and escape back to the surface in one piece.

The game is still in the early access stage, so it is important to keep that im mind while deciding whether to buy or not.

Pros:
+beautiful lighting effects without the brownish filter known from most modern FPS games
+eere atmosphere supported by excelent sound deisgn
+true coop experience, forcing players to rely on eachother for survival
+very limited amount of supplies on the map encourages stealthy approach which doesn't eat into ammo reserves
+a set of unique weapons and tools to choose from allowing players to mix and match their playstyles

Cons:
-no matchmaking, forcing solo players to use the official Discord channel to look for potential teammates
-couple of bugs in regards to player inventory desync and players getting stuck between objects from time to time
-some of the weapons seem to not pack enough punch, making them unsatisfying to shoot
-sound plays very important role in the game, but it can glitch out sometimes
-overall needs a bit of polishing

Personal score: 7.5/10

Couldn't launch the game due to constant crashes at the intro. Found solution on the Internet just to refresh the server list and realize it glitches out and makes all of them disappear from the list.

Still, it's fun as HECK when you actually get to play it.

Also, I totally found my online girlfriend on the RP servers. :) NOT

I used to wholeheartedly recommend this mod to everyone, however after returning to the game after a couple years I am sad to say, that the game is almost unplayable now.

Game balance of the original Half-Life experience is completely thrown off because of hundreds of additional enemies scattered around the maps that also happen to be insanely bullet spongy as well as dealing increased damage.

There is a plethora of bugs that ruin the experience too:

While respawning, players lose some of their weapons (including the gravity gun, which is like.. the main selling point of the game?)

NPC scripting is often broken, ending up with cutscenes getting messed up or just not playing whatsoever.

NPCs are often seen T-posing both in cutscenes as well as in combat.

Some of the levels at the end of Half-Life 2 have invisible walls that prevent passage or elevators that don't work as they should.

It feels like there is HUGE delay between player input and actions despite low ping of around 30.

Player movement is nerfed in comparison to original Half-Life 2.

If anyone is currently looking forward to playing through the Half-Life campaigns with friends, you should try Obsidian Conflict instead. So far it seems like it's a much more stable experience with far less bugs.

This is my message to the fine people at the Synergy Team: I still love your mod. It gave me literal hundreds of hours of gameplay back in the day when I was just messing around with a friend and I gladly donated money now, just as a thank you for the fantastic times I had years ago. But right now, the mod has a plethora of issues that need to be addressed before I can honestly recommend playing to anyone. I still love it however and really hope you guys will be able to do something about it!
