Solid experience. The guitar is 🐐 with its long distance swing. The environmental design is impressive and immersive, especially in the city sections. Sound design is great whenever it kicks in around enemies, and when approaching significant story beats. Though the sometimes odd pacing and prolonged moments of silence in parts of the game made me bump some music in the background to bypass the brief slogs. Overall, highly recommend for the atmosphere, sound, and concise story.

To the dev(s): If a sequel is ever made, it would be awesome to see it lean into the science fiction elements a lot more. They were mostly ignored after the first moments of the game. Loved seeing the random giant mech crashed into the side of the house early on, but nothing similar happened again for the entire run of the game.

The devs lay out the problem with this game in one of the newer quests. When you reach a tombstone in one of the more recently introduced areas, it reads

Nostalgia is a side effect of dying.

I only enjoy this game as a nostalgia trip. In traumatic or regressive moments in my life, the music and graphics have brought me a sense of peace, mostly from familiarity from a simpler time in my childhood. However, anything beyond the nostalgic is just a sunken cost fallacy. I can't recommend this game to anyone who hasn't played it before. Its rudimentary clicker-sim grind is marred by a tens-of-thousands of hours commitment that keeps demanding more and more hours of your life with little variation in interaction. No TV shows in the background, and no abundance of movies or podcasts can sugar coat the monotony of what you'll get with this game.

I love it. But to a new player: until Jagex can redefine skill progression and make the game more engaging, maybe avoid this one.

Early Access Review
A preemptive recommendation, I see the makings of a really fun game. That's if the devs can work out the desync, continue to add content, and, in general, iron out the issues of this work in progress. I liked what I played, like a PVE Battlefield where the squad gameplay felt uniquely fun, so I can't wait for the project to be fully realized.

Of course, if the glaring problems are not addressed and/or progress is altogether abandoned, I would highly recommend against this one. Wait for 1.0 to find out.

Fun gam, even if it's not my jam lately. 200+ hours well spent. Might be the same for you if asym PVP is your jam. You won't win every game, and nothing beats the discord squad meta of every game in this genre, but if you can take your punches and hand them back, you'll have a good time.

Great graphics and a fun premise, but needs some more time to cook. Refunded for now, but looking forward to trying it out in the future if they can expand on enemy variety, objectives, and tools for the sandbox.

Update: Repurchased the game about a month later, and it's a solid time with friends and even in public matches. The leaks show a promising future for new ways to approach each mission. The game does seem to want to fight you at every angle (extremely long stratagem cooldowns, extremely slow movement speed and general traversal speed making the gameplay flow a slog, support sentries lasting mere seconds, low primary/secondary weapon ammo counts, small weapon pool, egregious amounts of enemies at all times, impossible-to-see-through fog on every planet and other modifiers that are mostly just un-fun), but it's still a good time at the right difficulty and with the right people.
