So far so good

Edit: 12 hours in and still really enjoying the game. Not sure what all the fuss is about on the forums, but I guess the positive reviews this game is getting speak for themselves.

Edit2: 25 hours in and the game just kicked up to a whole new level. Seems like there is a lot of endgame content that opens up when you beat the main campaign. I wonder if this game will get the credit it deserves eventually.

This game is just way better than it has any right to be. I remember checking it out years ago (mostly based on the fact it was free). As someone who has played a ton of "survival" games I wasn't expecting much and I was blown away by how much it exceeded expectations.

This game is FAR better than basically every other "survival" game AND it's free. How did this happen?

Hard to get past the technical issues at first (the patch helped) the story and gunplay is what kept me going and the ending was pretty fantastic. What it lacks in structured story missions it gains in sandbox missions where I'm allowed to choose which type of activities I'd rather do than others (though they ARE all pretty similar).

I'm tempted to say it ended up being the most fun mafia game with the best story and I'm almost certain it will be the one I end up with the best memories of (I honestly don't remember much from the first two games even though I played through them multiple times).

It isn't quite as good was WarZ (which had better/slower pacing in terms of loot and encounters and better/faster combat pacing due to people actually dying when you shoot them) but at least it is still a better game than DayZ.

Was a huge fan of Overkill and Payday, but they have just gotten worse and worse with content and pricing to the point I am convinced all the post-launch support has been a giant trolling experiment.

Hopefully once this game is out of alpha and figures out perf/controls/desync/etc issues the information and developments can be passed on to the DayZ branch of the engine.

Eagerly awaiting 1.0 release to see what excuse is used for the game at that stage.

At least it is better than DayZ... not that that is saying much... (sigh)
