Fun mindless co-op shooter. They've patched in all the stuff which I would have complained about, so really all it needs is more content.

Delivered exactly what was promised. Default difficulty is pretty easy, and 100% is grindy. Got stumped on progression twice (compulsory hidden item, wtf?), so don't feel bad about looking stuff up.

Really good game, it's basically Star Wars Sekiro with Tomb Raider style exploration. Combat isn't quite as polished as From Software games but I beat it on Grand Master difficulty without ragequitting unlike most of their games.

Performance isn't the best, I struggled to get more than 50-60 fps in most areas with a 1660ti @ 1440p, graphics settings seemed to make no difference either. There were not infrequent stutters especially when moving between areas despite being on an SSD.

Best FPS in a while, and as faithful a reboot as we're ever going to get nowadays.

The level design isn't really anything like classic Doom: it's just objective points and arenas, which is still fun, and they kept secrets at least. I'm not sure why they bothered porting like 10 classic levels though, why not all of them?

Weapons are pretty varied and fun. Chainsaw and BFG being limited instakills is a bit weird, they're more like strategic tools now. I could have done without the tacked on RPG mechanics though, since it ended up feeling like a chore getting everything in each level.

Graphics are great, lots of gore, and performance with Vulkan is really impressive. Music is 10/10, bought the soundtrack and still listen to it every now and then. Story is enough to keep you interested, with an obvious set up for a sequel.

Didn't play the multiplayer at all, except a few co-op snapmaps and they seemed to suck, just stick to the campaign.

Pretty much a one to one translation of Dark Souls into 2D. The design of the areas, bosses, weapons etc. are great. Greatshields pretty much trivialise the late game though, so probably don't use them on your first playthrough.

It's ok, but it's not as good as it could have been. If it's your first Souls game, you'll still like it though.

The gameplay is much faster paced and the bosses are ridiculously tanky as if it's Bloodborne, not methodical like Dark Souls. Shields are pointless since you can roll 20 times before running out of stamina.

Too many poison swamps! The game is too linear, you can choose from two branches every now and then but you can't go too far out of the way. The whole game looks grey, and all the armour looks the same. The bosses are all pretty cool, but not every boss needed phases.

There's no build variety since most stuff is locked away in the linear late game, weapon arts are mostly generic, no power stancing, armour and vitality don't matter since poise is non-existent, all the rings barely have any effect, magic is too weak, most covenants are pointless or broken.

Co-op with friends is finally easy, but invasions are next to impossible because of infinite rolls, infinite seeds, infinite summons, but only 5 talismans. PvP is still a phantom range lagfest anyway.

First DLC is short and meh except the final boss, second DLC is pretty good and has a few great bosses.

Creative puzzles, fun to explore, and a good length. Only got stuck at one spot and figured it out eventually, does a good job of teaching you normally. Had performance issues in some spots where the rooms looped back on themselves but otherwise all good.

Early Access Review
Great game with so much detail and freedom. Each update makes a big difference as well, I always end up playing again.
