Genuinely perplexed as to how people continue to defend FM after over a decade of zero meaningful changes & a 45 quid price tag for a game that looks like it was developed to run on a Sega Genesis.

Took a break from FM around 2020 (played from 2010) & decided to re-buy this years' out of boredom (& the slight hope that it would at least have progressed from when I last played) - don't get me wrong, it still has the initial fun & rewards that any FM game can provide when things are going well, & you can still easily pour mind-numbing hours into it when you've absolutely nothing else to do on an evening - case in myself. However, the game does not feel like it has changed in the slightest from the early 2010's, never mind 2020.

As other people have touched on already, the match engine is absolutely unbearable - I have top-flight centre halves in the peak of their career who'll just turn around under zero pressure & boot it out for a corner to the opposition, the AI in general is absolutely atrocious, tactics are pointless & mean nothing - have been using the same 4-2-3-1 gegenpress for over a decade in the actual game & have never needed or felt the need to deviate from it. Team talks are the same repetitive nonsense - team play bad = same prompt with the same effect every time, team play good = other prompt with the same effect every time. Press conferences are repetitive & soulless with the same questions asked every week & after a while the entire game turns into a repetitive slog with nothing interesting ever happening.

FM has turned into FIFA levels of taking the piss & genuinely needs an overhaul or a competitor. Until that happens, I won't be paying 45 quid for a squad update ever again no matter how bored I get. Oh, & the people who continue to defend this are also partly to blame for the sorry state it's currently in.
