So, Changing my review a little.
I got the game on Switch and ended up completing it there so i have seen the whole story and such, minus the postgame for reasons that will be touched on in this review.

Performance: Out of PC, PS3 and Switch, the PC port has the best performance of the platforms with the main hub being used as an example.
In both the PS3 and the Switch versions, there are areas including the main hub, that stutter badly. since no combat ever takes place in this state, its not bad but can make some preemptive strikes annoying.

With PC there was no performance issues like this much to my relief.

Gameplay: First things first, if you want to play the game comfortably a controller would be almost required. Its a trend with IF Games on PC that the keyboard controls are not very intuitive and here is no exception.

As for mechanics, i would compare the levelling and 'Peon Creation' to the likes of Disgaea with up to 9999 levels and stats heading into the millions at least. individual levels dont really do much for your strength, especially for the main story/true ending.
your main source of strength early will be upgrading your gear with G (Gold) and G ups (A different currency earned through getting through the Mugen Field.

Battle Mechanics are basic at first but are gradually made a bit more complex with Crystals and Large Crystals which all have unique effects ranging from Damage Inversion (Damage taken becomes healing) to a simple stat up to straight up invulnerability.
the later one is mitigated by the 'Blast Off' system which allows you to knock enemies (and yourself) around like pinballs. this allows you to remove them from beneficial effects and breaking the crystals can give buffs or even 'Peon' the targets (an instant kill) in range.
Small crystals have a radius around them while the 1 Large crystal is arena wide.

The Moe Kill system allows Chou Chou only to attempt to Peon a target for an instant kill and even get stronger over the game thanks to it. (Note: While it's not required, it will help later grinding especially post game) Here its probably its simplest, just get your head into the mindset of the personality each form/affinity embodies and go based on that. some are even easier than that, if Bipolar shows up as Bipolar Chou Chou, go for that almost always.

The last mechanic i'll mention here is probably the main drawback and that is 'Peon Ball'. in short, its your BEST attack.
However you much have enough PP (Peon Points) to use it the minimum being 100. As you use it it will charge up into an overload which if it gets to 100% and Chou Chou's turn comes around... It will instead blow up on you and result in an instant party wipe pretty much.
While you CAN keep it in check with 'Peon Commands', a system where Chou Chou 'Commands' someone other than her to do something random like "Use an Item!" or "Defend!", it serves to prolong or force you to do something like "attack" when you need to revive or risk losing.

Did i mention that Peon Ball's overload charges not only from using it but also party deaths (Fair) and ENEMY deaths?
The reason i never did much of the post game is that the Mugen Field is good for grinding but to get deeper where the bonuses after battle get better... You have to leave at every rest stop to reset the overload or end up getting wiped immediately soon after.
Peon ball actively discourages staying on a world too long BUT to their credit, they made this way better in the sequel.

You can also Not use Chou Chou at all which will eliminate the Peon Ball entirely from the equation but you also cant use the Myriad of skills she has available from the get go.

Story: Lastly, and with no spoilers even though the game is old, The characters are all nice and well made. Tsukika is my personal favourite along with Belleria. Altis is also great.
