There are pros and cons to playing this over the original PS1 versions. Pros are graphics, 60 FPS framerate (PC only), and some quality of life improvements. Cons are some different physics (which in my opinion just takes some getting used to) and sort of weird hitboxes, but I haven't experienced a lot of the same hitbox problems others have. Just like the originals, the level design is excellent but the enemies sometimes feel a little wonky, in a distinctly "retro" way. None of these significantly detract from the overall enjoyment I had.

In Crash 1 you no longer have to break every crate in one life to get a gem, but you do still have to one-shot a level for the colored gems. Also, you originally didn't have to break all the crates in the bonus levels (let alone reach them) to get a gem, but you do in the remake. I think it's a fair compromise.

The N Sane Trilogy is not a graphically demanding game, but if you have an old or low end graphics card you may not be able to get a full 60 FPS or even 30. My 960M laptop runs it at a mostly consistent 60 at 1600x900, but the integrated Intel GPU (which it defaulted to) can barely run the game past 10 FPS at any resolution.

Don't play these games if you don't like to die a lot, you don't like platformers, or you don't like fun. Otherwise definitely recommended.
