First off, very great game for the late 90s...

I'm going to say that the best thing about this game that I never find in anything else nowadays is the RPG setting. You can almost do anything in this game. The skills tab is something that I found out kind of late into the game but the science and repair skill made a lot of sense to me.

Best area in the game is The Glow. Ambience 10/10, Puzzles 10/10.

This game is kind of hard before getting power armor, but holy damn it is satisfying finishing the game with it. This game takes a lot of grind, and a lot of learning how to play it. I do wish a couple things though.

♥♥♥♥ the random crits from enemies that shoot you for either 5 or 165 HP. Also, I have ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ power armor, how is a random street bum knocking me down? I have no clue.

I absolutely love this game, and it goes to show how good the old, first game of a series goes (Witcher 1, Dark Souls 1, Resident Evil 1) My goodness I can't get enough of this game. Literally...

There is barely anything to do in this game to be honest. I have so much time because backtracking is so real. DON'T GO TO THE GLOW WITHOUT RADAWAY (Or use character editor)

The combat is kind of ass sometimes, but the power armor is sooooooo satisfying.

Buying and selling mechanic is nice, and I love the side stories. Even though there's only a couple of them.

Very intensely scary for about the first 1.5 - 2 hours. After that it's sort of mind numbing enemies around some corners. Map play was amazing, everything being linked was cool just like RE1, but giving me two keys at 1/2 the game was kinda weird. Didn't feel like an RE game after I got the shotgun since I never used it before the son boss fight. Had about a billion and a half ammo from there on out. All in all, I would say that the atmosphere is what makes this game. The boss fights are lowkey mid except the first with chainsaws (that was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sick). Final bossfight was a letdown and the (spoiler) main villain being a little girl did not help at all. The grandma spooked me like twice but thats it. Mia is a stupid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ character ZOE ALL DAY EVERY DAY. Sad she died after I picked her wtf. Ship section was meh, got lost a little bit but the laboratory lore wise was really cool. The house section and the addition of outside houses made this whole map feel amazing (these people rich as ♥♥♥♥ holy) and the gun play felt really good too. Monsters were a little easy to kill, maybe i'll run it back on harder modes. One shot headshots (shotgun) and 3 shot with pistol seems kind of crazy to me. On the other hand the flame thrower was absolutely USELESS after the mom's boss fight. She was kinda cool. And the grenade launcher was as always beefing as all hell and had sparing ammo. I would recommend, just letting you know though, there are much better RE games out there. 4 + remake, 1 remake, 3, and 2 + remake are in my mind much much better than any of this. Also the fact that there wasn't any enemy chasing you the whole game made me feel much safer (This is an RE game I want Mr. X or Nemesis like character yk??)

I've got to get some things out the way first and thats...

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this game is amazing for a couple reasons.

1. The interconnectedness of the map is creative and beautiful. I wouldn't say that it's too hard for a first time player to get past the first arc AKA both bells without a guide. Getting to blighttown is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in itself. There aren't enough words in the english dictionary to tell you how much thought they put into the way the map works for you, the more that you discover. Seriously. Those elevators going to the Undead Parish, but also taking you to Firelink Shrine and you can get back to Undead Asylum. Masterclass. The way that there's a designated firelink that takes you everywhere.

2. The overall sense of dread of the setting. It is just in a world of it's own I'll be honest. It's the coolest ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing to discover that first of all, we are a zombie basically and you have to just beat the crap out of these gods. But where these fights take place are just super interesting and very overlooked in my opinion. I think the greatest example of this is Blighttown. It's literally underneath the sewer system of the Undead Parish, you need to get to the lowest level, then into the sewer system, and then UNDERNEATH the sewer system is Blighttown, it's just amazing how far your curiosity can take you. And not only that, the Demon's Lair is UNDER BLIGHTTOWN. The verticality of it all is just in a category of it's own.

Progression system lowk sucks, and the combat is outdated. Some of the mobs WILL kick your ass and it'll most likely be the rats and the dogs LOL.

10/10 game would recommend. Just pure enjoyment after beating this game.

First off, if you're trying to play this game for the first time thinking ♥♥♥♥'s sweet, I have another thing coming.

Inventory and item management does not mesh together well with the plot.

Lowk thought they give too much ammo but that's just me.

Play Jill's storyline first before Chris IMO. Chris is harder.

Gameplay very obviously outdated but the theme and overall feel of the game is amazing. The old creepy ass mansion.

Wouldn't say the map is the best but once you beat this game once, you'll be a pro to beat the second ending dw.

Great game would recommend.

Very fun, great story, ♥♥♥♥ graphics, ♥♥♥♥ mechanics, clunky as all hell, but damn very addicting.
