A huge upgrade to the game despite the typical bare minimum effort from Rockstar

Early Access Review
A really huge welcome back to the series, Genki really cooked on this one ! It's definitely not the full version but it's worth spending hours on as you please. If you haven't play a single Tokyo Xtreme Racer game at all, this would also be a really good introduction to the series and also worth the money ! Keep in mind though that full version is pretty much coming out on April and currently there is no new game plus or multiplayer for that kind of endgame right now so please consider that before buying but other than that really solid, challenging street racing game, we definitely need more exciting games like this in the market !

Season 2 is a huge improvement for the game for sure ! It proves why Ibiza is truly important to be part of the TDU DNA and the sanctioned races are pretty fun to do (although this/festival racer trope is pretty much getting overdone). The spirit of TDU truly lives on in this game, getting rich starting from the bottom and buy prestigious/luxuries cars in specified dealerships but this game really needs proper core TDU elements like side missions and houses also remove the dumb region lock and enable cross platform so for that reason so the game's really worth it on sale at the moment but yeah give it a try if you have the chance to play it for free !

Awesome world, deep story, challenging yet exciting missions, banger soundtrack ! Although it has some minor issues and had a disastrous launch, CD Projekt Red really knock this out of the park ! Definitely a great addition to the open world crime genre but still hopefully they'll do much better on releasing/adding new features for the sequel.

A great start for the series's next decade ! Criterion returns with a bang !
It puts a higher standard bar of quality with the improvements of the models/textures,
map design, arcadey handling, police chases, customization, and new style of gameplay with a nice extra touch of Midnight Club, Juiced, and its bold graffiti aesthetic.

Lakeshore is one of the most pretty looking and exciting maps in the NFS series !
It might look concerning at first on the reveal, seeing that the city is being 1/4 of the map
again like the 2 previous installments but it felt huge and alive, giving some thrilling city races
in the game with its Chicago-esque road network, lower tunnels, railroad, alleyways, and the addition of pedestrians to the game/series. Outside the city, Lakeshore also doesn't disappoints with well placed small towns/farmlands, having its own ski resort and race track on the winding switchbacks and open roads, and the highways really do justice this time around, a proper beltway as well to hit ludicrous top speeds of your car.

Handling is refined to the point you can do a complete full grip or keeping the old but improved brake-to-drift default handling.Might need some improvements but arguably a better/best handling NFS ever have
on the frostbite engine. Burst Nitrous is a new type of NOS and its a fresh tactical spin to have, either use your classic but short burn nitrous from driving on oncoming lane or the lvl 1,2,3 powershots that boost longer depending on lvl by drafting, near misses, airtime, doing a J-turn, or wrecking a cop.

Police chases are better and tougher with the introduction of offroading Explorers, hidden undercover Camaros, and strong yet fast SWAT Raptors to ram you off the track. Every gas stations now are hidden and give you unlimited full repairs with a cooldown of 3 minutes each time you want to repair by go through them.

Races are now classified from city racing to mountain, highway racing, or a full-on east-west, top to bottom endurance race and drifting is present alongside the new takeover events which is pretty much crash-test dummy themed speedcross but better at most cases. Elimination is present in The Grand's qualifiers (hopefully lap knockout gets added at some time) but drag is still not in the game since the previous installment.

As for car list, sure it's quite the same as Heat's but Audi is now absent for some reason yet it gets really exciting new-gen cars as well like Chevrolet C8 Corvette, Lotus Emira, 2022 Lamborghini Countach, Nissan 400Z; returning fan favourites like Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX, Mazda RX-8, etc. and the iconic 190E of course.

Cancelled leaked customization in Heat like K.S Countach/Defender are now putted in this game instead as a legendary customs kit, alongside YasidDesigns which are crazy appropriate for the game. You can also do bumper deletes on almost every car and tint headlights/windshields, reliving the Underground 2 days and you can now download liveries by artist which is a nice extra touch. However, despite these, the obvious driving effects, and some few new crazy visual parts, brake disc brands are now limited to only Brembo, Rays; Enkei; AR; Watanabe rims and the Sun-Line Racing bodykit are now absent due to licensing issues.

Story can be a hit or miss but it's working as intended for each characters, which do brings out some funny dialogues here and there but you can skip them if you want, personally I find the father-son relationship stuff quite wholesome to listen to despite being cheesy for better or worse while it's quite awesome to have a 16 player multiplayer at launch despite it clearly borrows Most Wanted (2012) style which I do like about the locked cars behind progression to encourage players trying new cars and get used it and what I don't like which is that you can only party up to 4 players at launch. I can see the reason why with this part of MW12 multiplayer being outdated and the focus of modern gaming nowadays on big boxes aesthetics over efficient-comfortable user experience. The voice game chat proves that but for real, hopefully it caps up to 8 players or maybe a friends only lobby if possible.

Overall, NFS Unbound is a great polished arcade street racer that puts the series in a much better direction and it's really nice as well to see no microtransactions in the game whatsoever for now. I definitely recommend it, especially for you Need for Speed fans out there but still if you find the game too pricey, you may try the 10 hour trial and get a 10% discount of it with EA Play or wait for it to be properly on Steam sale.
