Played through the demo twice. For some reason AI War 2 didn't click with me, while Heart of the Machine hooked me almost immediately. Maybe it's the excellent introduction to game mechanics through the prologue and chapter 1. More likely it's the initial conceit: playing as an AI finding its way in the world is a much more human scale than intergalactic warfare.
If you liked the idea of AI War 2 but had difficulty climbing the learning curve, you should have more luck here.
