The game is good, solid but for some reason it just does not grab me, maybe its the story or the setting but i just can't play it long hours like other such as xcom or even the new chaos gate. There are some late game balancing issue and the feeling of not enough side missions to level your other character approtiately for the level requirement and you are forced to use your a-team throughout late game, at least on my experience, so god forbid you get serious wound on your a-team because it means you might need to bring your barely in level sub-optimal B-team into the fray.

Just finished the game, after thinking about it while credits roll, i would honestly give this game a 6.5/10.
Not to say this is a bad game, in fact i quite like it but there are some glaring issues in the game currently, bought it day 1, finished it just after a patch hit it. So another play through in legendary may bring about second opinion, (although i highly doubt it unless the issues and bugs have been fixed and more balancing are given), i really want to like this game, i really do, i put in quite an amount in xcom2 and if it wasn't for way too much modding bricking my game constantly mid progress i would still be playing it.
Firstly, presentation lore and story, i quite like it, i'm not a lore expert in 40k, even though i played other 40k game (DOW2), i mainly only know the basics through youtube from bricky and russianbadager and i'm not a TT player. I like the map designs of the game, i can tell there are great care in showing accurate portrayal of architecture and and lore representation, especially can be seen throughout details such as statue, gates, wall paintings and overall feels very 40kish. The story and plot is simple enough to understand, the characters are well-written or at the least fits the stereotype I've heard about. Great so far. The character models however are really hard to tell apart sometimes, there are not enough distinction when you are viewing them from above in top-down view, and since you can't recolour the whole armor to be distinct from one another, the models need to be perfect with easy to distinguish from a quick glance, so many times i can't tell apart cultist from their grenadiers, the spray marine from bolter marines not to mention my own unit classes from each other. The tiny distinction from one another is not enough when viewed from top-down.
UI, however is a mess, there are quite frankly some designs i don't really get, such as why are the enemy and allies side portraits way too big with not many information for them, if all the portrait is ever amount to is see their health (which doesn't even show their exact amount) and ap amount for allies and visible/shootable for the enemies, it just need to be half that size, why is there no icons for afflictions/boon or even mutations on the portraits, why is support fire icon not on portraits when you are trying to shoot an enemy and trying to determine whether your support fire is coming as well, why do they not show what class they are or at least the icon of the class, why does the bottom main portraits not show ammo count by default, (on that matter, why do you even need to show sword ammo when there is no reason for it to be there). It feels way too cluttered with not enough important information on them. ALSO, why can't you mouse over enemies to show their movement range with 3 color differences for 3 ap, it is very annoying to manually count the tiles.
Level, map and objective designs, as I've mentioned earlier, i like the details and overall feel but from a game-play standpoint, the maps quickly become repetitive, and i realized why, all the maps are hand-crafted which have its pros and cons, but the cons quickly outweighed the pros, level become way too easy as you can accurately predict where the objectives are, where the potential enemy patrol will be, whats the best place of approach, where the potential places that might trigger another pod while you are engaged and most importantly, hearing the same dialogue played out over and over again. There are not enough variation in the map and sometimes i actually have a feeling of deja vu of playing the same scenario exactly the same way again. There are basically only 2 objective throughout the game not including the main story mission objectives, either harvest seeds or destroy some weird plant. I've only ever encounter the gate objective once throughout my whole playthrough and find it fun and engaging but way too rare as you can only do them when the planet have 5 corruption and the next one will spawn a bloom.
Story missions, i like them enough as it provides story beats and most importantly, different variation to the same 2 objectives I've mentioned above and they are a welcome change of pace, however the pacing issue from the story mission starts to rear its ugly head when i compare my progress to other streamer/youtuber. I saw one streamer actually max leveled his first main squad before even reaching the eldari nexus story mission because the "main" mission research wasn't obvious and he went for other more "useful" research and strategems, and hilariously he never ever actually understood how to get seed properly, and just assumes so long you melee the enemy with the seed you will have a chance to get it, because he didn't realise when you crit killed the enemy, it doesn't show the precision targetting system, because he went for high crit interceptors. He also actually starts encountering terminators before the nexus missions. which led me to wonder, why are the early game side research take so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ long, in fact research as a whole takes way too long from what i feel like, I had to actively delay story mission to try to finish others and researching as a whole feel very bad and not very rewarding. one seed cost reduction of each type takes up whole row for some weird reason.
Balancing, now this is a topic i think is main thing that needs addressing, first few, maybe 3-4 missions are really rough, which is understandable, as you don't know ai patterns, you haven't gotten used to the game and such. But after that, it got wayy too easy wayy too fast, especially when your justicar and interceptor levels up. i think after the forth mission, i'm easily 90% of the time, one turning every pod, and after few more adjustments easily 1 turning the entire seed missions until the last seed is done, i remember feeling over powered, first time encountering a chaos dreadnaught, wow. Then after all the seed carriers are collected/killed then i realised he exploded and thought, hmm, this seems wayy too easy for approaching end-game mobs. The enemy pods need to be way bigger, there is a reason xcom2 doesn't just throw you one new "strong" enemy alone. Mixed in more cultist, put more chaos marines and progress the strong pods faster if you can detect the squad levels are high even if early on. There are also classes and skill imbalance, justicar ap boost should be one of the corner one, switch it with the taunt so that at least higher level justicar is required because anybody who played any type of turn base with this type of ap system always know, giving ap free or not, is always potentially busted, and as it happens, using 1 ap to give another guy 2-3 ap, is really broken, especially when it stacks. Some classes require help, healing guy especially, is really in a bad place right now, and i don't even know why it got nerfed in the patch, chaplain, also another one requires help, he have 2, potentially 3 useful litanies and one of them is misleading with its description of giving ap and the rest of his skills are garbage. (maybe if the pods are re balanced to be harder he might be of use). Paladins is worst then justicar in every way, i don't know is it always justicar that get promoted to paladins from the random event but he is really bad since mine was promoted from a high level justicar, he can't tank better than justicar since he don't have agesis skills and his kit feels really random, also, why is my promoted paladin come with a pre-build skill and why can't i respec. (side note, default kit for paladin should always be storm shield instead of bolter since the first time, i can't find the storm shield at all and didn't even realize they are in the game untill there was a reward for it)
Also some glorious deed are wayy too annoying to do and not rewarding, no mastercrafted *... and * are such, because you have to manually go to everybody and unequip stuff.

10/10 would be maidenless again.

After the dlc, 11/10 would get lost in the world again. Michael Zaki and team did it again.
The DLC world design is currently the best From every did, inter connectivity, verticality, the amount of times my mind got blown by how big is the dlc map and how many places to go and drop down or climb up to is insane.

ALSO, the bosses are just "chef kiss". Do make sure to get the scadutree blessing first and explore the worlds first.

Early Access Review
Seeing such a great world full of potential in this game. Everything about the game play is great so far. U get to craft, u get to build stuff, and u get to raid and such. But currently this game is ruined by hackers and bad community management. Dun get me wrong, i'm in singapore and almost all the server i've played in has hacker, all the asia server has hacker. all the western server too lag to play. Official server, the name shd make ppl scared to use hack or ♥♥♥♥, but no. there are tons of hackers, ruining the game, u go out, gather resource and get some good gear and suddenly out of nowhere a guy with speed hack flash right infront of u, jerking left, right up and down, and seemingly just smack u to death with a rock, and not once but 4 times. so i said fine, i'll go to other part of the world, bam, aimbots and wall hack shooting from inside a rad town wall. Go to community server? no, admins hacking, admins not bothering about hackers cause they are friend and ♥♥♥♥♥. so unless garry and his team solve this problem, this game is a no go for asian gamers. (Pro Tip: just ban china, they are the major cause for hacking)
