I grew up playing budokai tenkaichi 2 and 3 but I hadn't touched them since so I was excited but a bit skeptical to try out sparking zero. The game far surpassed my expectations and it's such a smooth entertaining experience every single time I launch it. As just an arena fighter this game is insane, it's got an overwhelming amount of mechanics but it feels incredibly satisfying to get good at.

The main menu is incredibly charming and fun to look at.
There are like 9 different campaigns all following a different character with branching storylines centered around choices you make or ways you complete battles. Some of the missions can get pretty difficult but there's a difficulty option if you need it. I will say don't go into this expecting to experience the story of dragon ball, a vast majority of events get completely skipped to prioritize the fights. If you want a narrative experience play Kakarot.
Very well polished and detailed game overall, one of the most impressive arena fighters ever made in my opinion. If you like the Naruto storm series or the demon slayer game you should give this one a try.

The number one thing I'd tell new players is to definitely play the tutorial, and if you're having trouble revisit specific parts of the tutorial, there's a whole lot of mechanics you need to get comfortable with to get good at this game.

Wrote this at 17 hours played but I know I'll be at triple digits at some point.

Edit of my review after reaching 90+ hours:

This review was written after I played every other gamemode besides online ranked. If you're looking to play ranked be warned that the ranked matches of this game are EXTREMELY toxic. Yes, every now and again you'll find someone playing a respectable character and not doing anything cheap, but that's in rare cases at this point. There are a LOT of people who resort to nothing but extremely cheap tactics, spamming unblockable moves and instant spark, and (worst of all) rage quitting right before they lose. The online has to be altered a lot for it to be a fun experience, sadly.

So I'm very conflicted here but ultimately I'll go with a hesitant recommended, if you'd like to know why I'll list it below.
Pros:
  • The gameplay loop is pretty decent as far as rpg dungeon crawlers go
  • Good customization options for skills and builds, allows for a bunch of different play styles
  • A lot more content than I originally thought there would be
Cons:
  • Bad inventory system (600 different types of resources you need to collect and store but extremely limited storage space without spending real money)
  • Gameplay gets repetitive and boring due to the bad inventory (constantly going back and forth between town to sell the stuff you picked up)
  • No character customization
  • Enemy types don't differ much besides what they look like (this might be a staple of the genre but there's no real strategy when facing anything that isn't a boss, just attack until one of you dies)
In conclusion: In my opinion the games faults and shortcomings become more and more apparent the longer you play and a combination of stale gameplay and bad system mechanics can leave you feeling bored before even reaching the end of act 6 (out of a total of 10 acts that act as the primary introduction to the game.) If you're someone that likes these kinds of games give it a try, you might like the neat skill combinations you can come up with but don't expect a masterpiece.

6.5/10

Subnautica mixed with a restaurant manager sim. Incredible art-style, very addictive gameplay, very good replay-ability, and insane amount of content (it took me about 36 hours to finish the main story). Heavily recommended, grab it if it's on sale

One of the best RPGs of all time. In depth customization, skills, classes, and combat. Expansive world with random combat encounters keeping it from feeling empty. The quests and mechanics add to the experience and make up a game definitely worth trying out. Dark arisen dlc is on par with Skyrim dlc in terms of extra content it adds, but not quite as narrative. The one and only down side this game has is no workshop support, if it was easy to mod this game it would easily compete with the biggest RPGs in the genre.

Great customization and roleplay elements, recommended for anyone who's ever wanted to be a superhero (or villain).

Excellent mobility, amazing graphics, extremely entertaining gameplay. This game is awesome the only problem is that it's not very friendly to beginners, but besides that: 9/10

Would recommend for people who want to waste 900 hours and feel accomplished afterwards (unlike other games).

This game has quickly become one of my favorite games, it is surely a must have.
- It is extreamly addictive with constantly changing game mechanics.
- The character development is extreamly well done, with each character being extreamly likeable and individual.
- The boss fights are extreamly fun and challenging.
- The game has a present charm the whole way through and indulges you into the immersive world it creates

I could not recommend this game enough.

Please don't get this game, don't even get it as a joke, this is not worth it. This wouldn't be worth it if it were a free game, it is sloppy and un-refined, and as far as I can tell, in no direction to improving. The only purpose this serves is if you're bored inbetween faps or you're looking to make a $0.02 profit from the cards.

I'm not going to lie, I bought this game for cards, but I was pleasently surprised. This game runs smoothly, it's surprisingly really addictive, and the level design isn't repetitive. This is a true simple in theory, complex in practice puzzle game.

Also made a $0.05 profit
