An astounding game of quick-paced action straight from the get go, Risk of Rain is a action-packed 'rogue-like' platformer that keeps you coming back again and again for another go. With a huge array of varied and interesting items, and different modes and difficulties, there's all sorts of ways to ensure you always have the type of game you want, from relaxed kill-fest to near-impossible death-fest. As you play, the challenge rises, with enemies spawning more frequently, having more health and doing more damage, along with the possibility of 'elite' enemies, those with special skills such as healing their allies or firing periodic missles at players, spawning increasing too. Both single player and co-op give different fun and challenge, and are both worth endless hours piled into them. My personal favourite indie developer game, and one of my most effective time-sinks.
