I do not recommend this as a replayable title (yet)!

This review will be a not recommended until:
- They QoL and improved all aspects of the game massively first (updated it somewhat but there's a long road ahead of them)
- Released the creation kit, and allowed modders to fully flesh out the game world.
- Removed all the silly 'inclusive' stuff littering the game and the awful 'random character' models (probably requires modding to fix them all)

Pretty sure whatever expansion they try to sell, might be underwhelming, so what I do recommend is to save your money, take a step back, and think about whether you are buying because of 'emotional' hype, or if you are making that decision based on a sound logic.

It does have bugs, not always gamebreaking.
It does have funny bugs, not always frustrating.

But overall the game plays fine and performs fine, you just gotta remember that it's a 2022 title so hardware requirements should be updated accordingly.

Can't say much for storyline, but gameplay and attention to detail is good for the most part, you do see repeating use of maps and sections for things like Dark zones and such, and for large massive open world space, why wouldn't they do that?

For those worrying about DRM and/or not having a top-end PC, should wait out a month or two for more fixes as it still has re-occurring bugs:
- Most especially is the T-posing bug and Pre-order bonus bug where you cannot redeem your weapons a second time, and the shops are a bit buggy sometimes, I now see them T-posing and selling 100 Oxidizer at all times for no reason now. But it doesn't break progression.

I've read on the forum there are game breaking stuff but that's a very rare things and usually happens if you play the prologue and do something too extreme like stray from the path to the point where your respawn location changed. The game world is too huge for the dev to look overy everything, so it'll be a month or two until these are fixed.

They should tweak and fix the settings and menus for PC hardware users who wanna use it to test and optimize their settings, I notice a bug where pressing left and right directions on such selection skips like 2-3 selections at random, but clicking the arrows to change settings changes it 1 at a time.

Did you know that the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV has a free trial, and includes the entirety of A Realm Reborn AND the award-winning Heavensward expansion up to level 60 with no restrictions on playtime?

1) Identity Crisis.
2) Bad Progression UI.
3) Content is too few and spread too thin to be of value for the average players.
4) Packing 4 games for the price of one AAA by reusing assets doesn't make this game more valued.

1) The game's marketing and opening is playing on the modern political conflicts to intrigue the players, but has nothing to show for it. It also does not have a single player mode, merely a intro to the usual multiplayer mode and that's it. As for identity, the game does not innovate much at all in regards to the gear and equipment a player access off the bat, it's all simplified to be the same across the board, only differing in stat values per gun... And effects. That's it. Even Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 offered a much larger selection of guns in general, and vehicles with more upgrades and mechanics. When you get into the 'minigames' content, you'll see that it's emulating that game's content but in a worse way, as if the aesthetic is the only thing that matters, but the programming behind the gun play it is horrendous.

Any equipment the 2042 has, is already done in previous games... Even the wingsuit is basically parachuting mechanics but allowing you far better controls of flight.

2) The bad progression UI is just that, you don't unlock much or see any progression to whatever you want to unlock, it only shows up when you attain it. It's just a giant reward screen and the player will just quit on the bottom right as nothing changes. If anything the whole UI in this game is a giant aesthetic marketing tool, big images, big words, but very little to go on in terms of details, as if to cater to console and TV players?

3) I own and played all previous Battlefield games throughout 1942 to BF4, and BF5 in recent times, and 2042's content is just depressing in general when you go through the list of equippable gadgets and such. Even BF3 had more gadgets with proper UI and mechanics. I don't see the point of unlocking these later gadgets as well since some of the functions seems gimped when you play the spinoff minigame versions in 2042. The EOD bot for instance doesn't have the icon to indicate what direction the tracks are facing too, and controls and spins in wild directions when turning... So all in all the game uses older contents to pad the very few new contents, as if EA can only afford to hire the many artists, but holds back drastically on programmers and QA. If it doesn't look fancy it doesn't sell apparently...

4) I don't see the point in a 4 games in one if they can't even recreated half of them properly with the full content from the original game... and since there is a 'store' function, I'm thinking EA plans to 'sell' us the remaining content from those older games.

EDIT: Windows 10 is required to play this game optimally, Windows 7 does not have Dx12 which is necessary to utilize the CPU loads properly!

Contrary to other people's reviews about how you can't run it without a RTX card and the latest CPU, you actually can utilize hardware that is quad core and 8 threads, along with a GPU at least a Vega 56 or above.
The key is to fine tune the hardware to play to it's own potential and not push it like most people will, cranking all specs to the max and then dropping all specs to the lowest and think everything is the game's fault.

For me, I found out that the game does not utilize your driver profile for said game, it is too new and buggy for that, so make sure to set the game setting in global settings.

Also, avoid maxing out graphics at the get-go, you get minor image increases at a huge cost of performance for some things. Fortunately you do not need to restart the game to see it change in real time, so you can fine tune ingame settings easily... Do keep Crowd Density to low if you want to tweak graphical settings as to not have CPU density workloads gets mixed into GPU tuning.

As well as the BSOD or crashes... That's usually the Power Supply not able to keep up or the game destabilizes because you are pushing the frame rates or power usage too high. Keep it stable and low, and slowly tune it upward to a satisfactory level. Remember there are memory leaks in this game so you should also look at the memory budget file found in the game folder and set the amount properly, CPU RAM to RAM size, and GPU RAM to VRAM size, among other things you might change like buffer sizes and whatnot. Slightly.

Ryzen 1700 @ 3.5Ghz
16GB DDR4 @ 2866 Mhz (clocked lower for more stability)
Asus Vega 56 Strix 8GB @ 1575Mhz 1060mV (undervolting may be a bit too low)
Power Limit +7% (going too high might destabilize the voltage settings).

Moderately high fan speeds to keep temps below 60 Celsius... I do notice I don't crash anymore so long as I keep the Temp in check for my games. Try to keep the total wattage of your GPU below 200 watts maybe, if it's a Vega card.

My FPS averages between 45 ~ 80 (I set a frame limit to avoid overheating my GPU above 60C, to avoid some problems). Vega GPU dies have a HBM2 on it, perhaps heating above certain temps messes with it.

Graphical Settings:
Make sure to set Local Shadows to lower or even off, is the biggest hit to performance.
Cascade Shadows can be turned on or set to medium levels as it's fine for performance.
Volumetric Clouds are fine for some parts, stick to medium for okay performance and decent light flares and smoke effects.
Ambient Occlusion can be off, saves a lot of performance and isn't 100% necessary as it still looks good.
Screen Space Reflections can be turned off, it has default levels of reflection regardless without it on, so long as you turn the few settings at the bottom to high/ultra.

Decals, Mirror, and LoD you can crank out as it'll make the visuals look good but not a heavy hit.

Crowd Density to low, want to avoid frame rates plummeting if you drive super fast.

It should be obvious by now by the list of reviews shown here...

But why the hell is Reto making their trailers so obnoxiously misleading?
They create a sense of a 32v32 battles in their trailers yet it's actually much less and staged 10v10 lol...

Kind of obvious if publishers like Sony, Microsoft, and even Valve, allowed the game to be release in this sorry state. This game is not labeled as Early Access, and is even 'implied' to be misleading or decieving.

Not only does everyone deserve their refunds, but Hello Games deserves every lawsuit it got before release, and now more so.
