ok here's the thing. there's a lot about this game around the edges that sucks, specifically the amount of support the 6v6 multiplayer gets from the developers, and some truly confusing stability issues, but unfortunately the core gunplay is still the best arcade style shooter ever,

so like, yes, its not the most ideal gaming experience ever, but no multiplayer-focused game ever makes the community happy. so despite everything, i still think the game as it stands is fun enough to spend 70 dollars on.

This game isn't particularly innovative from a design perspective, but it really nails character and tone.
- The soundtrack is second to none. Its not just a collection of the biggest songs of the era, though there are plenty of hits to be found, but it also has a ton of wonderful lesser known tracks that give an excellent texture to the world. The game also has a couple moments that trigger specific songs, and I found all of those to be pretty effective.
- The world also looks great, and has plenty of variety, including backwoods bayou areas, neighborhoods both affluent and poor, city centers, and industrial areas. The weather and sunsets also look great,
-The other thing I like about the game is the way it addresses the issue of race not only in the narrative, but also in the gameplay. There are areas in the game where you can get away with less, and be viewed with extra scrutiny based on the fact that Lincloln is black. This also effects the response time of the police, which is an interesting variable.
-The characters and performances are well delivered. Lincoln and his lieutenants are all well written and performed. Especially good though are the old preacher to whom Lincoln goes for guidance and help, and the manic government agent who agrees to support Lincoln in his quest to take down the mafia.

All in all I think this is a very decent open world crime game. It might not be able to hang with the best of the genre (things like GTA V and Sleeping Dogs), but its totally worth playing. I know there are complaints that it deviates too much from the Mafia 1 and 2 formula, but as someone who didn't play those I thought Mafia III was pretty good.

This game is awe-inspiring. There is beauty in every corner of this game. It has a simple story well told through environment and music, but that really isnt the draw for Abzu. If you find joy and inspiration in the sea, or even nature in general, I cant think of a game I could recommend more than this.

I think that this first season is not only better than either the comic book or the television series, but is one of the very best pieces of zombie fiction in any medium.
