What a wonderfull surprise

I did not have this game on my games radar at all, but when steam offered it and introduced it, it catched my eye. Since Total War Shogun 1 i was totally into this kind of game and where Shogun 2 failed to deliver in my eyes, Nobunaga does deliver, plenty.

it is kinda of a perfect balance between Grandstrategy turnbased play and realtime fighting mode.

The economy is a bit tricky to learn in the beginning but once the beauty of the system shines through its easy, intuitive and well balanced.

What a lovely diamond of a strategy game. Not a single reason for the oh so well know occassional rages ;) no internal deathwishes for any involved developer or gamedesigner (yay) and surprisingly few bugs. Just a very wonderfull out of the box working and intrigueing game experience.

And a little benefit on the side: If you like cheesy japan samurai movies, put voice acting on japanese...hillarious :D i LOVE it

Meh, i wanted to like it, it looks like a nice game but damn again, once again a game fails at some major game design choices making the game an utter pain in the ass at some point...but here comes the complete story:

So i started as Heinrich the Knight, being the noob to the game i am, i follow the games advice.

works out well without to spoil too much, but i get to have a castle when all of a sudden some super human mercenary troop arrived to kick me in the face. For no apparent reason, they are just landing, running towards me and killing me. Its silly, their leader deals 1 blow kills even to the main character wiping out the entire army alone.

Well i thought, ok lets give him a bit of a challenge and hide out in the castle. After all a siege takes away a good portion of their health...or so i thought. Apparently his troops can teleport or fly, since they dont get any siege penalty, resulting in the same utter crushing defeat in the very first few missions of the game.

If the game designers wanted the game to end like that why not just pop up a window and write "the end", there isnt even a story attached to it its seriously just Badguy: "i will kill you" style...and off you go.

Whoever wrote that piece of story should rethink his choice of job he is utterly unqualified for gamedesign.

Damn, and i really liked the game up to that point. But for me this is game over, this guy is invincible and believe me i tried...

Well its a mix of love and hate with this game...

So it all comes down to the level of gamedesign flaws and frustration you can deal with and you will either love or hate this title.

I have been playing it and will keep on playing in but will i recommend it? Maybe with 50% off or so...but as of now too many flaws that harm the just as many good sides of the game.

On the plus side:
+ graohics are pleasant
+ Athmosphere is nice enough though repetetive and people in the towns are just there, never really feal too real or alive mostly doing the same
+ The basic idea of the battle system
+ Alchemy and signs
+ Tons of sidequests and stuff to do

On the negative side:
- tons of quests kinda feel like work and repetive
- Clumsy and bad bad bad bad controls, if you are not a consolero forget it even with a controller you will often face the wall, the other side or wrong direction or face away from an enemy you are fighting right now. Its such a pain in the ass, well less though than in Witcher 2 but still, i often enough see myself rage quit during stupid fights, or those ridiculous invisible borders during races ( you cross them: auto loss)
- camera positioning, there are so many good games with good examples, how you can make the camera so weird especially during fights so you dont see your enemy cause you will have to constantly adjust the damn camera is beyond me.
- Boxing people, yeah well sometimes Geralt tries to fight without weapons. Why he can't use any of his ♥♥♥♥ or skills during these fights, while he can during a sword fight? Also beyond me...another examples of stupid limitations put upon you for no apparent reason
- autosaving: sometimes it saves after you did a quest sometimes it doesnt, which means sometimes you find yourself dead on the ground reloading 2-3 quests back because none of those quests saved.

But what it comes down to is seriously if you can deal with clumsy controls of an xbox controller and some stupid console style limitations or not. If you dont mind a rage or two in an hour...go ahead, if you want a relaxed RPG experience without those? Dont buy...

Update 16.08.2015
A couple of updates, tons of hour with a controller and i have to say, a pretty well done story later i will change my vote from "not recommended" to recommended now.

The reason is, that i really enjoyed the games once i accepted the game to be flawed (but less so than witcher 2) in controlls. It is still silly how controller controls can be so clunky and unprecise but once you reach "bad ass" level it doesnt really matter that much any more. Since now you are killing off the enemies even with bad controls ;)

So where it was tedious and hard and really unpleasant in the beginning, later it begins to shine, when you are able to focus on the story.

Little Spoiler:
On the side: Whoever wrote that Mainstory, damn you i really wanted that threesome *gg*

Played my first mission with my son, even the way into the game is already clunky, ugly, unintuitive and a pain. (They should have called in painday tbh) Looking at the graphics still painday for my eyes on 4k with GTX970 on 32" Screen.

But playing this joke of a game was even worse.

Stupid bots, tons of them, stupid looking animations. Bots as intelligent as the average ant, no feeling of involvement nor for the mission nor for anything...sometimes even invisible walls. Basically, do this, kill that, kill more of that, kill even more of the same, wait a bit, repeat it, go out kill more and more and more Bot-Ants-Idiots, flee, same story again, kill kill kill... feels stale, boring, repetetive even with having just played one mission yet and cant bring myself to launching it again.

I REALLY wanted to like it...its a nicely produced little game with an interessting setup and intruiging at start. But way too much loading between near to nothing happening apart from some rather random seeming dialogues and tbh there isnt really much to do apart from klick, read, klick, load, read, klick read, klick, load, read, klick, arrange a few troops, klick, random encounter with some enemies randomly placed, kill, klick, read, klick read, klick, fight random fight...and so on.

I always wondered where the "strategy" part was in the fights. Its rather random and its boring. especially if the enemies just spawn around you, and you can do next to nothing to change that. No Terrain, no setup, no tactics to influence battle field. Its so empty and hollow what could have been nice and challenging is basically just a click fest with too much too read and not enough to do.

Reseña de Acceso anticipado
A beautiful little Game with a few hours of fun in it, keeps you hooked up for a while. Hasnt got much content yet, and still has performance issues with bigger machines, but still a pearl among other early access titles.

Paradox: Setzen 6!
