I played the previous Tomb Raider (2013), and I loved it. I played this game and as soon as the open world features were introduced, I grew bored.

This game looks similar, but it feels very different. It felt more like Assassin's Creed, which is a game I also love. Here's the thing: when I want to play AC, I play AC. I expected the same formula as TR 2013, and was disapointed.

The puzzles are cool, the graphics are gorgeous, and the locations are varied.

But there's too much open world exploration. Collecting berries and twigs in between. In trying to compete with Assassin's Creed, Tomb Raider is compromising its own strengths while failing to equal its rivals. The NPCs are not as interesting and fleshed out as in AC, the world is not as alive and interesting as GTA, the craftig system is not, well, interesting at all.

I wish the next game takes more inspiration from TR 2013, but seeing its raving reviews, I don't have much hope...
