While less tight than The New Order, The New Colossus maintains the things that make it worthwhile. Old favorites are back, while new characters add spice. Anya continues to be a badass. The gameplay is in many ways more of the same, though not a terrible thing, one does wish for more variation. A few winning scenes and gameplay moment keep this game happily in a list of solid FPS's, though I'm anxious to see what Machine Games will do with the next entry in the series, as "middle of a trilogy" syndrome is strong with "The New Colossus".

Microtransactions, free to play design, and poor understanding of the community. Good game design or not, these are bad game choices.

Transistor is Supergiant's followup game to Bastion, and they, in my eyes, confirm they are not a one-trick wonder. With far my rpg gameplay than its predecessor, including the turn() system, wherein you pause the game to set up your attacks. Every ability works synergistically, meaning you can come up with your own combinations for the gameply style you like, with everything from basic power attacks to summoning a cyber-punk dog to fight for you.

The story is on a different scale than Bastion, centering around a single city instead of two nations, but is nonetheless satisfying. It is not as rich as Bastion's, but if you liked Bastion's story, you will like this one too. The art style is as fantastic as ever, and the music brings you into the world with the first song. If you liked Bastion, check this out, and if you didn't, it's different enough that you might still look into it.

It's also worth noting, that it's a short game. I beat it in about six hours, and I am no speed player. I enjoyed it, and I appreciate that it didn't drag on. It includes a new game plus mode, so there is plenty of time to unlock new abilities, use different combinations, and keep moving on with the game.
