Things I learned from DayZ from under 100 hours of gameplay (I will update this review in time)

1. Always trust your instincts (If a player is sus, never fully trust them and be cautious)
2. Trust a solo player who's fishing/sitting by a fireplace who says "I'm friendly" until proven otherwise
3. Be wary of duos - especially if one's a Talker and the other is a Quiet lad who tries to move out of your sight - most likely they're gonna shoot you or stab you from behind
4. No mic, no life (learned this the hard way, they were on discord and I got ambushed)
5. Don't take betrayals personally, especially expect it from overly enthusiastic squeakers/Gen Alphas
6. If you have morals/integrity and don't like to betray others - Keep fighting the good fight, one player at a time, it goes a long way
7. You can play solo and avoid every player, but what makes the game fun are the interactions
8. High risk, high reward
9. Meet new companions at spawn, the further you move away from the coast, the harder and riskier it is to team up with others
10. Never believe someone who has their gun out who says "I'm friendly" unless they put away their gun
11. Eating wolf and bear fat are safe and won't give you Salmonella or food poisoning
12. Get rid of gear fear, this game is not about loot but more on the experience itself overall. Respawning and dying is part of the game.
13. If your teammate is on discord with another, expect things to go south
14. Be neutral, expect betrayal
15. Community servers generally have higher quality of players who are keen to interact, less likely to KOS(Kill on Sight), less likely to have cheaters, compared to the Official servers
16. Vanilla DayZ has base-building, if that's a turnoff, join Hardcore servers which are just pure adventures and no base raiding
17. Don't tell the new guy you just met that your health is in the red
18. Drop your backpack somewhere before entering a hot pvp zone(military camps are always KOS)
19. Namalsk is hardcore, and has a lot of player interactions due to the smaller map. Sakhal is easier than Namalsk. Chernarus is the easiest map to learn.

Loving this game so far. The initial learning curve is tough, but I enjoy the game more now that I've more hours in.

If you have any tips or advice you can give to new or old players alike, feel free to drop it in the comments below
