ArmA, Boxhead, Battalion Wars, Fat Princess, Planetside 2. Mash them all together, and Running With Rifles was born. It has the depth and realism of a military sim with the budget and aesthetic of a flash game, yet somehow it works phenomenally when you actually play. Tack on competitive/co-op multiplayer and the promise of Workshop mod support and you got your next addiction. Buy it now or go clean out the latrine, private!

Killing Floor is the most entertaining horror-shooter I've ever played. It has a good variety of levels and enemies to kill, fun weapons that feel badass to use, and more Workshop mods than you can shake a stick at! Between this and the Left 4 Dead series, pick this if you want a more arcade Call of Duty Zombies type game, or if you just want to watch heads explode. Trust me, its fun as hell!

Hola! Tropico 3 is a city-building sim that does a lot of things right by being both hillariously satrical and rewardingly deep. You can choose your political structure (Democracy, Communism, or Dictatorship?), economical structure (Industry or Tourism?), and how your city is built and functioned. While it's not complex and focused on micromanagement like Civilization or Europa Universalis, its more like an ego-boosted SimCity. If that's your bag, then Tropico 3 will win your heart. Long live El Presidente!

Republic Commando is a forgotten gem in the Star Wars game library. Its Halo meets Ghost Recon with a little Left 4 Dead set in a darker Star Wars setting than the movies. The controls are decent, and I say decent because it feels a little awkward to have the aim and crouch buttons next to each other (by default bindings), and the gameplay moves at a rapid pace. Despite the short single player and the now deceased multiplayer (GameRanger can remedy this, but it can be hard to find someone hosting a game), Republic Commando is worth your time if you're a fan of Star Wars or the FPS genre.

The year is 1100 AD, and I'm a noble knight fighting my way across the Holy Lands. Although, I myself can't take on my foes alone, and all I brought with me into the desert are a couple loyal peasents, a handful of bricks, and some coins. What do I do? I build a castle, that's what. Stronghold Crusader HD is an old school RTS that focuses mainly on building and maintaining a thriving castle of your very own, and then using said castle and whoever is inside to crush your opponents. It's pretty much Age of Empires meets Total War, which is a combination that I never though could be possible. If you like strategy games but wish there was more of a creative aspect to your base-building and resource-gathering, then this is well worth your gold pieces.

The Behemoth does it again. Battleblock Theater is a nutty romp of a platformer that is more or less LittleBigPlanet: The Broadway Musical written and directed by the Devil himself (Killer toast, 'nuff said). With 4-player local and online support, character customization, mini games, a level editor, and even Steam-integrated item trading, this is litteraly the ONLY platformer you'll ever need! I really have nothing left to say except buy this game right now and get playing. Hatty needs your help!

Arma Cold War is a solid game and a respected predecessor to the newer Arma titles, yet this game really shows its age. The graphics are very polygon-heavy, the levels are often too open and undetailed, the difficulty is too easy, and the simplicity of the gameplay strips the meat off the metaphorical bones (You only have a M16 for most of the campaign and you can't drive any vehicles unless it's required for the mission at hand) But I digress...

I personally rate Arma Cold War a B- . It's not a bad game, especially for one that Bohemia gave us for free during the 15th Anniversary Sale, but comparred to it's successors it feels like one big demo. For a true-blue military simulator experience, buy Arma 2 instead, and if your system is REALLY beefed up, punch it up a notch with Arma 3.

I'm a hopeless cyberpunk nerd (I'm even writing my own cyberpunk novel!) so naturally I'd just cop-out and say "Buy this game because it's cyberpunk" and end the review here, but why not go further? Shadowrun Returns is a series reboot done right. It takes elements from the original SNES and Genesis games, adds it's own little splashes of originality, and makes itself a thing of dark gritty beauty! The turn-based battles are smooth, the graphics, while a little cartoon-y and lighthearted in some aspects, are still cool to look at, and the story and overworld is right on par with something like Blade Runner.

If you consider yourself a cyberpunk geek like me, or if you just want a game with a gripping story, this is a digital dream come true. 4.8 killer robots out of 5!

I always knew that goats were symbols of the devil, but this just CONFIRMED that's true! Goat Simulator is without a doubt one of the nuttiest games I've ever played, with no goals except to just cause shennanigans any way a goat can that unleashes your twisted mind to experiment in the game to see what your badass barnyard protagonist can f*ck up next!

Sadly, yes, the game still needs to be patched up quite a bit. As they said, there's still a ton of kinks left to be hammered out, but if you love games like the Tony Hawk's Underground series where you cause absolute mayhem in an open-world, or if you've always wanted to be a goat, then I got one word for you:

BAAAAAAAAA!

Saints Row IV is everything Saints Row the Third is, but BETTER. Bigger storyline, new and customizable weapons that just scream carnage (Dubstep Gun, anyone?), new vehicles, and more ways to make your character look and feel however you want (or don't want) them to be! Out of every other open-world sandbox game in the world (yes, INCLUDING Just Cause 2 and GTA V!), Saints Row IV is the creme de la creme :)
