This game creeps up on you slowly, it has tons of atmosphere and decently good gameplay. All-round it's a very good game, but the ending sequence is absolutely perfect, it makes an 8/10 game into a 10/10 game.

Pro: Dripping with atmosphere, great plot, fun if perhaps a little simple mechanics. Cave exploration is very cool and unnerving, inventory and crafting system is fun.

Con: Wonky and abusable enemy AI, enemies are damage sponges on harder difficulties, survival is very easy so once you have a simple base up and running there's not much left to do but beat the game.

Sort of cool but pretty janky, not worth the money.

This isn't actually a game. There's a revolver on the very first screen shot on the store page but you will never use it. This "game" is a 45 minute tech demo with some flashy colours. Basically half the game is you sitting in a self driving car, and alt+tabbing to do something else until you reach the 3-5 minute walking section where you walk, slowly, from A to B. Then you go "driving" again. Not worth it, even if you get it for free. Do not pay these crooks.

4 hour long game. It is incredibly short and the puzzles are incredibly simple, level design is ranges from mediocre to bad and upgrade/metroidvania mechanics are almost nonexistent. I'd give this a thumbs up if there was more of a game here but you've experienced everything the game has to offer by the 2 hour mark.

Can't recommend this with a clean conscience. The particle and physics based world is interesting and at times fun, but it is also filled to the brim with loads of RNG ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. It is a complete ragefest. If you want to play the same couple of levels 50 times hoping you'll get a decent wand go ahead, there is definitely fun to be had, but it is buried underneath many many layers of caked mud. I'll give the game a few more tries but I'm about ready to uninstall.

Whoa, this is a lot of game to take in all at once! It has a very steep learning curve, but it is extremely immersive and is loads of fun once you get into it. It has been a very long time since I've played such an innovative game. As a rough estimate I say it took 20-30 hours for me to get a good sense of how the various game elements function, and where to find the stuff I need to know in the menus (so many menus haha!)

Here we have a game that manages to blend:
A) A true hex based wargame with complex combat modifiers, a fleshed out recruitment and logistics system, the development and field testing of equipment, and proper tactical warfare with trenches, armoured spearpoints and everything. In true wargame style your entire army will collapse in a matter of turns if you fail to defend your roads and logistics network, fail to supply an adequate amount of trucks, or if you've simply run out of ammunition and food.

B) "Grand strategy" and 4X empire management where you have to allocate resources, manage your industry, promote the growth of the private economy, discover and research technologies, conduct diplomacy, engage in espionage, build infrastructure, and ensure your population and your factory workers are fed and happy. All of this is managed through your appointed leaders and playing event cards. The economy is also fun to play around with. You could for instance decide to nationalize that private Truck Station in your city to gain full benefits from the building, but if you decide to nationalize the private dome-farm to feed your troops you'll soon have a civillian famine on your hands. If you let the private economy keep buildings, even those you might want yourself (recycling plants, mines), they will run the facilities for free and give you half the output, while the rest goes into the local private economy which will let your private citizens build buildings and boost your civilization score.

C) A very engaging card game which you use to manage many parts of your empire, from supporting various factions and groups, to recruiting leaders, developing your cities, conducting diplomacy, managing taxation, setting the military posture of your Operational HQs, and reaping various other benefits. The type, number and quality of cards made available to you depends on the skill of the directors you appoint to the relevant Councils, and on the type of government/policy decisions you make. A highly skilled director of the Interior Council with budget allocations towards human affairs and taxation will generate cards that allow you to recruit skilled leaders and increase the taxation in your cities. Another director, of the Supreme Command Council, will generate the political points you need to play these cards.

D) A people and relations manager akin to Crusader Kings (it also reminds me of Rome 1 Total War, with how you could intelligently manage your generals and governors to develop good traits and stack retinues to develop them towards administration or warfare). The skills, stats and capacity of your Governors and Directors, and your relation to them is paramount! Some leaders will become corrupt and start actively sabotaging your efforts if you let their relationship and loyalty deteriorate. A happy and loyal leader on the other hand will bring a positive modifier to every part of your administration. They are vital for playing and maximizing the benefit from various cards, or minimizing the damage from events. Luckily you have a lot of options, through cards and events, to shape and cultivate your leaders.

Your leaders also have their own personalities (and silly names like Vance Sililord). One governor might be a highly skilled and great administrator for your city, he is loyal and you have very good relations, but he is also a staunch supporter of the militia and he is very authorative, meaning that he is likely to follow his own personal policy even if it happens to go against state policy. Suddenly you are faced with an event; your governor has discovered and shut down a pacifist book-circle at the city library, and has spearheaded a new organization to recruit more people to the militia. You could support the governor which gives you extra score towards the militia and authoritarianism, creates unrest in the city, and makes the intelligentsia dislike you. Or you reverse the decision which humiliates the governor and decreases your relations with both him and the milita, but increases your support with the intelligentsia and minimizes city unrest. You will have to balance long term relations with your leaders against the long term interest of state policy, both of which translate into more spawning more powerful cards with stronger effects. I think it is very immersive and engaging to cultivate leaders who are alligned with you and who have the right skills to lead an important Council or to govern an unruly city.

This review is still WIP, I'll write about some of the cons as well, but so far I really love this game! (and I have to take a break from writing this so I can play)

Good game once you get used to the controls.
It has fun historical variants, and I like the inclusion of cards you can play to give yourself an edge.
Somewhat odd how Poland is by far hardest to defeat of all the allied countries, but all in all I had a lot of fun, definitely going to buy the rest of the series when I get cravings for more counter wargames.
