The story is pretty decent, good graphics and all. There have been times where the ambient music sounded like it was from Skyrim, but whatever. Nice big open world with lots to do. Would probably look fantastic in VR. However, as a completionist I have to give this a downvote, and for single player that has mostly got to do with the awful Gambler challenges which are not fun, too heavily dependent on RNG, and feels like a waste of life. Play an open world game to sit at a table for literally hours over some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥? Which genius thought that one up?

Additionally, the controls can be a bit janky. For example, you could be under attack by some enemy or a predator, and even with weapon in hand, if your horse happens to be nearby, as soon as you try to aim, you'll spin around to face your horse, and you're locked into facing your horse while aiming. Not very useful when the whole point of aiming is to shoot at what's attacking you. Also, why does the game force you to look at your horse when you have a weapon at the ready? Secondly, if a predator come up behind your horse while you're sprinting, rather than just continuing to spring, your horse will stop, and buck you off, and run off with all your weapons, allowing the predator to get you.

Not being able to retrieve animal carcasses from the water is really stupid. Imagine shooting something like a brown pelican, or a Carolina parakeet, and you can't pluck it because it fell into the water.

The morality system seem very off as well. Get attacked by a pack of wolves, and shoot them all? Lose morality. Walk past someone in town? Randomly lose morality. Save someone from being attacked by the Murfree Brood? Lose morality. Attack a camp of Skinners? Lose morality. Dynamite your horse because it got you killed once too often? Lose morality.

And does it ever stop raining? Over a week of solid rain.

I don't usually write reviews for games, but wow, as far as AVNs go this exceeded my expectations. The storyline was actually pretty good, and with decent dialogue (i.e. not completely cheesy). The characters were quite well developed, each with very distinct personalities, and some with a deeper backstory.

For a casual player it might be fun. For a completionist, just trying to get the 'can't cat-ch me' achievement is seriously frustrating. Trying to run through all those Zurks without getting caught has taken me an hour so far, which means I've spent about 4/5th of my total game time at the time of this writing stuck on this one sequence. Even when zig-zagging I'll randomly get caught by Zurks launching themselves like a rocket from behind, and currently I seem unable to get past a certain choke point about 45 seconds into the run.

I couldn't tell you what the rest of the game is like.

Would I recommend this game? Yes, but only on discount. I would give this game a 3/5. It's an okay game, the playable characters are a bit cringe, but then they are teenagers. For completionists this is quite an obnoxious grind, especially to unlock all abilities, purchase all improved upgrades for weapons, and firing 100k shots.

Early Access Review
Are you a fan of space sims? Did you love Freelancer and Wing Commander: Privateer? If so, you'll love this. It has a very similar vibe and aesthetic. At the time of this review the game is still under early access, so there are still a lot of placeholders for upcoming features. Hopefully they'll also add co-op/multiplayer as well later on.

A very relaxing game that can be played while catching up on podcasts, etc. If you're into puzzles, and by looking at this page you probably are, then this is a great game with a very large library of puzzles.

2,000 hours in, and still going strong.

I've played every one of these games on console, and it's great to be able to get back to it again. It would be even better if Halo 5 were included as well though.

This is a great sequel to long standing franchise, and the extra character classes fro War of the Chosen (namely the Skirmisher, Reaper, and Templar) really enhance the gameplay a lot. New bosses are worthy adversaries that drop very powerful unique weapons.

Zup! XS introduces a new game mechanic, but unfortunately it wasn't implemented very well at all. When building course you have no option but to use drag and drop placement, which gets very repetitive. If you make a mistake and need to restart the run for whatever reason (even if it's an RNG physics issue), restarting will completely demolish your build, and you will have to start from scratch... every time. There ought to be a separate option to wipe your build if you wanted to, but the default out to simply keep your current setup, and allow modifications.

Superb graphics, a massive open world, and an excellent storyline. This is easily the best AC game I've played to date, and one of the best games I've played this year. 10/10 would play again... in fact I already have.
