Tight and fluid movement, great level design, an immaculate score, and a touching story. Celeste is easily one of the best games I've ever played. While incredibly challenging, the game is always on the side of the player. You are meant to struggle, but you are meant to overcome. I love this game, and I think anybody who enjoys platformers should add this to their list.

Positives

Let's talk about the puzzles. It is a puzzle game after all, and I'm happy to say that these are really fun to solve. The art style is really nice and every object looks interesting in its design. Some of the restorations can feel a little repetitive and basic, but others, especially the final one, are really satisfying to complete. Some people complained about the controls, but honestly I didn't find them too difficult to navigate. Not much else I can say about the puzzles really, they did a pretty good job, maybe a few more levels would have been nice though.

Negatives

Now, unfortunately, the story aspect of the game feels ham-fisted. This wouldn't even be a complaint if it didn't take up half the playtime. Each story segment is treated like a chapter of a book, with the puzzle being somewhere in the middle, and this format I believe is why the story feels so tedious. For starters, I'd recommend playing with voice acting turned off, otherwise it feels like you're reading a book while listening to its audio track at half speed. Nothing against the voice actors here, it's just a flaw of the format, another of which being the fact that there is so much downtime between puzzles. If the chapters were shorter I think the story would work a lot better, but by the time you're repairing the next object you already know why it's broken, why it's important, there's nothing left to the imagination. So much of the story is given up front, I wish a lot of it would have been saved for after the repair.

TLDR

I'd recommend this game to any puzzle lover. The story elements aren't my favorite, but the puzzles are really fun, and for the price being only $7.99 (I bought this on sale so it was even lower), I'd say if you're eyeing this game just go ahead and get it. And hey, maybe the story will resonate a lot more with you than it did me.

Decided to revisit this defining game from my childhood, fully expecting it to not hold up as well now that I'm almost 18, however I'm happy to say I was proven wrong. The game knows not to take itself seriously, giving you a care free gameplay experience, which is something I haven't been able to experience in recent titles. The gameplay and story is very laid back while also being entertaining and engaging. The villian missions are just as fun and interesting as the hero ones, and the Batcave is a nice, simple hub. The vehicle physics can be a little clunky, but they're not a major part of the game so I can look past this. Overall I would highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a care free, fun experience.

Very fun to speedrun, and the randomization of the courses means your route is never the same. The most satisfying part is hitting multiple flags in a row and your FOV seems to enter hyperspace.

I've been playing Terraria for years now, but just recently got it for PC. This game is so much fun, both in single and multiplayer. I would definitely recommend this game for anybody

Edit: Many many hours later, and I have finally 100% this game. Truly an amazing survival experience, the progression is done so well and the bosses are incredibly memorable. I wish it were easier to host a server between friends, but that's a small complaint. I would have had this 100% months ago, but the dreaded *fishing achievement* kept me at bay until now. Happy to be able to have this one join my All Achievements list, because it truly is a classic and childhood staple of mine.
