First of all let's just be clear that the appearance and style of this game are amazing, the ideas behind it wonderfully assembled. The "foreign language" instruction booklet sprinkled with English words that the player must decipher is really well done, it reminded of my childhood playing imported Japanese games where we had to figure out everything because we couldn't read any of it.

However I simply can't recommend this game because its input design is horrendously flawed. For instance the game provides you plenty of items/spells however you are effectively limited to 3 in combat, which includes your main attack. In order to use an item it must be mapped to one of the face buttons which is not a good idea since the game does not pause, in games like this you will usually have a button to use the item from the menu or at the very least paused gameplay, but not in this one. Is this is multiplayer game? No. It's only meant to annoy the player.

Another input grievance is that the dodge/interact button is completely overloaded with functions which often leads to the wrong thing happening while playing.

Additionally the camera is fixed in all exploration stages in an isometric angle, but when you get to a boss it suddenly decides it wants to rotate around the whole battle arena making it a really disorienting experience.

Ultimately the game is an amazing achievement for a one person endeavour however we can see where it would have benefited from the input of a team.

Played this game for a year. Had some great times but the developers are retarded and the game has gone from bad to worse instead of the other way around, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ netcode to wonky prediction, its all over the place.

Great concept, terrible execution.

Company of Heroes 1 is one of my favorite games of all time, the multiplayer was perfect! In its heyday i ranked up in the top500. Then came Brits and PzElite expansion which introduced Relic to pay-to-win design which made CoH1 lose its perfect balance.

This all brings us to this horrible, horrible game, which truly doesn't even deserve the CoH name as it is inferior in every way to its predecessor, graphics, balance, stability, fun, you name it.

CoH2 is a game riddled with pay-to-win design elements which are sure to make any RTS an assured failure. It could have been great, even greater than its predecessor, but the bar was too high, and the developer was too weak.

Early Access Review
Let's be clear, Darkest Dungeon is an amazing game.

The artistic presentation is beautiful and consistent throughout the whole game. The sounds and voiceovers are excellent, the music just right.

The difficulty is enough to give you a sweat, make you pound your desk in anger but also make you jubilate when you finally beat that long dungeon.

As this game is still early access some elements still need work, howeve I am confident that Red Hook will pull it off and deliver an amazing final product.

As a professional game designer, I can see what the developers wanted to accomplish and I can only bow to their amazing talent. Building a simple turn based combat system that has depth and is fun is no easy task but they seem to have pulled it off very well.

If you're a fan of punishingly hard games such as Dark Souls and the recent incarnations of XCOM you will definitely like this game.
