Make no mistake, there are ZERO ARPG’s on the market that nail the feeling of wiping out entire screens of enemies with one button click. That title probably won’t be taken away from PoE for a very long time.

This is the absolute peak of ARPG’s from the feeling I described above to the ludicrous amount of usable builds you can come up with. Nothing comes close. You WILL enjoy the satisfaction that comes from every enemy you kill, I can promise you that.

That being said, unless you’re a hardcore, multiple spreadsheet, several game related tabs open, learning what to sell on the market, studying every aspect of the game to learn every single mechanic type of gamer, you’re only going to enjoy yourself up to the pre-endgame content.

After you get past that point, your builds fall apart, you’ll die in one hit to most things, and seriously…good luck with the crafting system that you’ll need to use to improve your build when the game doesn’t give you enough of the currency you need to actually punch through that RNG wall of crafting.

This game is so unfortunate in that sense, because it could easily be made accessible for EVERYONE. Sadly, the hardcore .01% gamers are the ones who dictate how this game has been developing over time, and the casual players have been pushed away just due to the nature of the late-game gameplay.

Tl;dr:
Are you a casual gamer who wants to mindlessly clear screens of enemies with incredibly satisfying skill effects and fun builds?
Hell yeah, go for it! The game is free after all and you’ll have a ton of fun. Just be prepared to hit a wall larger than the one in Game of Thrones before you even get to the real endgame content.

Are you a hardcore gamer who enjoys making a game your full-time job, studying every aspect of the game and theory crafting builds to success?
Congrats, you just found the next game that you’ll spend thousands, if not tens of thousands of hours on.
