I'm playing the Ancient world mod in Civ V where you can build wonders 20x faster on marathon mode in the ancient world. It's really fun. I'm on the path to conquering the world in 1200B.C. with artillery, etc.

YOu know based on the achivement list, it seems Firaxis intends players to do faster short-term games, like dual and tiny maps. Otherwise, I don't see how anyone could try to get them with normal gameplay where a typical game can take ~20 hours.

I just got Brave New World. Geez you must play Civ V a ton. I tried one huge map a few months ago and it took so long to finish, never again! I stick to small maps since even those are a long haul. I wrote about this on my Amazon review but Civ V is the most balanced, "perfect" version of Civ of the entire series, imo. And, you know, I wasn't a fan of the vanilla Civ V, but G&K really changed my whole opinion of it. It's the perfect blend of scope and strategy. Just for fun, I picked up Civ 3, and was surprised by how archaic it looked.. i'd forgotten how much the user interfaces had changed over the years. Back then with low resolutions you could get away with tiny icons but today you need huge buttons in comparison. Have you by chance tried it with Windows 8 and a touchscreen? Man, I was thinking, I'll bet that is extremely fun on a Windows tablet. Not that I'd buy one just for Civ, but if you own one it would be a killer app. :Citadel:

Hey Joshua, how are you? I would guess from all your variety of games that it's a family account? :markarth: I was wondering if you'd like to join my family for some Minecraft one of these days. We play every weekend off and on. I've "wasted" a ton of hours with it, but I find it so relaxing that it's like sitting on a beach for me, stress-wise. Last weekend we learned how to use a command block to keep it from turning night while working on the world. Jeremiah just figured out how to make a rail and made several awesome roller coasters. It would be awesome if you and your daughter joined our server or vice versa. We could figure out how to open up the ports. Unless there's already a public server you use. I kind of like the privacy of our own world.
