So I'll give you the run down of my first few hours with this game. I wondered the forest for a while, realized I could chop down trees, I skipped over the directions and was captured and later died that night died from cannibals and malnutrition. No tutorial! I grew up with nintendo. Instruction book? Throw that S#1T away. Figure it out. To be honest, to see a newer game (other than Dark Souls) kill you with no remorse, makes this my kind of game.

Restarted, built a house, started building a skyscraper to stay away from the mutants. Bad idea, I guess the AI is programmed for view distances and the mutants were relentless. I had weapons but they destroyed everything. Damage was done, time to start over.

Restarted, I now have a cliff side home. I can scavenge and hide. I have defenses built and walls everywhere, but within reason. The fact that now I'm a little more confident in exploring the map and have begun to take on small patrols of cannibals. Found some containers, a boat, and other things. Almost eaten by a shark.

Pro's
The open world design is fantastic. I hope to see additional maps in the future or even procedurally generated maps. The attention to detail is exceptional, the collision detection seamless integrates with the environment. The crafting is well done and not overly complicated, there is no extraneous GUI's, its raw, like this game. Building things is not overly complicated either. I originally skipped over the survival book *thinking* it was page after page of text and crap. WRONG, that is one of the best ways to view in game information and build. Half of the hang-ups I had in this game were from assuming it fit every other standard, The AI is truly terrifying, I tried to fight every time, then I had to use the traps and defenses. You can be extremely creative on how "Rambo" you want to go.

Con's
There are a few glitches here and there. Sometimes some of the animals will change randomly, (captured squirrels turn into deer? {can reproduce but can not force the bug}). I understand the need for the food and water to drain so fast but I almost wish that normal would have been week for food and three days for water.
The velocity that limbs fly from dismembering is bad. I've had to many limbs and heads fly of cliffs. I admit that deer are stupid however the glitch out when they run off a cliff.

This game is fun. It's extremely creative, even gory at times, but allows you to be just as creative. My fiancee says It's a camping simulator but she hasn't stuck around for the cannibals or mutants that hunt you. I decided to review this game now considering that additional locations and concluding the story would only be additive.

tl;dr Camping simulator with cannibal/mutants, Kinda like "Lost (TV Show)"+"Minecraft"=Forest, extremely fun and well made, you'll probably die... alot. Unless you check forums and cheat. Do it the "nintendo way"!
