The trend of releasing incomplete games is still deserving of ridicule. But spending the next 8 years fixing the game with no additional monetisation from Hello Games kinda set the gold standard for how to proceed. Now the game is awesome! Leaving/entering a planet's atmosphere never gets old. Exploring for the perfect world to call home. Hunting down the rarest ships. Love how the lore is so meta, and sometimes hits real deep. Most of all I love my fleet of Living Ships.

Very hyped for their next game, Light No Fire. I'm ready to be hurt again!

Great game. Must have died at least 20 times never lasting more than 2 or 3 days. Trying different world settings/spawn points, getting to know the map. Finally had a run where I felt like I was getting the hang of things.

Spawned in Rosewood, found the police station and the fire station. A classic setup. Got a perfect condition car with a full gas tank. Loaded up on weapons, ammo, food, built up carpentry and was even starting to wall off my base. 6 days in, I felt ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ invincible! I had a laceration, so I was in pain, but it wasn't a zombie-infection so no problem! I thought it was too nice of a day to sit inside reading and healing! What's the harm in heading over to the hardware store 2 blocks down the road? Hopped out of the car, realized I had also become hungry, anxious and sleepy since leaving the base. My level 4 axe skill didn't mean much at that point, so with my wet noodle swings failing to kill the 3 zombies between me and my ride I turned to run, but the noise of the engine attracted about 20 more behind me.

This is how you died.

A dating sim cleverly disguised as a gorgeous lived-in world and story-rich RPG. Well over a hundred hours in and I am not even half way to the end of this game. You don't HAVE to take that long. I stop to read every single thing I come across.

But even then, there aren't many games where you can get 45 minutes of gameplay from moving 15 meters.

You'll look ahead, see a few things to loot, talk to, what ever. Looks like a straightforward path. Two steps later you get a perception check, crack open a crumbling wall, find a hidden well, enter an entirely new map, decide you'll come back later, go back to your intended path then get ambushed and spend 20 minutes in combat. Oh also, you looted a random chest at some point and got an item that will make a group of angry people attack you 50 hours from now.

There is quite simply no game I've played that makes it feel like your choices matter to such an extent. You'll save a random character in the early game, and actually meet up with them again 20 hours later. Or maybe you killed them and you'll never know... until you meet their grieving widow. The game reminds you of choices you completely forgot about by just dropping the consequences in your lap every step of the way.

Game of the decade. Do get at earliest convenience.

Almost 400 hours now. I guess I should write something.

One of the few shooters I'll play! Comes with everything you'd want!

Friendly community. Star Ship Trooper aesthetic, but with fantasy Dwarves so stocky, they'd make Gimli blush. Large variety of weapons and explosives. 12 primary and 12 secondary weapons to choose from (3 per class). But once you promote a character (get them to level 25) the real game begins when you start unlocking overclocks!

It even has moral choices!
Do you dig too greedily and too deep? Always! Bring on the balrog (bulk detonator), baby!
Do you pet the loot bugs, or shoot them? (Or pet them before shooting them, you demon).
Do you bring Doretta back to the drop pod after a drilldozer mission? (yes. Always, you bring Doretta back).
Do you ping gold chunks, shouting "We're rich!" until Mission Control loses his ♥♥♥♥ at you? (every time. Gotta do it every time. Sorry MC).

But the most important question you gotta ask yourself is, do you Rock n Stone? Get acquainted with the V key, and I'll see you on Hoxxes once you get this game, Miner! Greenbeards welcome!

Fantastic game. Weaves together about a dozen different gameplay loops, seamlessly. Obviously the 2 main ones are catching fish during the day, and running the sushi restaurant at night. That's addicting enough, but the real catch is how it keeps piling on more and more mini-game style mechanics. Basically every other mission, well into the late game, you're unlocking new mechanics, games, farms, what ever. Even the end credits unlocks a new mini-game.

Dave the Diver is deceptively large. It never gets too deep into any one thing, and the characters and style are really funny the whole way through. Only a few moments where I raged, generally really chill outside of a few boss fights where you wont want to forget your good guns, like I did.

Worth it at full price. You'd be a fool to pass it up when on sale.

**Quick edit to add that I played it with the new free Dredge DLC. It's adds a pretty creepy optional segment of the game that allows you to "explore" and drive your boat around to points where you can dredge items or dive for new mutated fish, which you can serve to mysterious hooded figures.

I loved it. Dredge and Dave make a great combo. It's just a new swist on the base game, but I thought the real high lights were the descriptions of the new fish on the Marinca cards.

Had to change my review. Stain in my library. Game was pretty awesome in the beginning. Now it's toxic abandonware.

I dunno. I've been playing for an irl month, and now it's been 7 years. I started with 15 parsnips. At one point I spent weeks away from home to finish two terrible arcade games. Now I have a mansion of a farm house with a loving family but I can't stop rummaging through trash cans for the LAST friggin hat I need to complete my collection. It's a hell of a drug.

It all makes sense now. All the engine sounds I've been hearing my entire life. Trains, cars, lawn mowers, helicopters. It's all just pistons. Everything is pistons. In 10 minutes this game has given me all the answers I never even thought to ask for. Also a train whistle isn't like a car horn. I always thought it was just a warning, but it's to decrease the psi in the engine. Choo choo!

Fallout 2 meets Rimworld? Dark Souls mixed with The Sims? What ever you want to compare it to, I wasn't expecting this.

Had it for almost 3 weeks now. Chose basic Wanderer start, mostly stayed in the hub at first. Made a friend at the bar. We started workin out together. Mining. Got a squad wench. Took turns giving each other pony-back rides. Just dudes being guys, y'know? One day, my buddy gets mangled by a bone dog while out mining. Both legs crippled. It hung around for a bit making sure no one helped, took out a couple other patrols. Real Cujo ♥♥♥♥. Eventually sent our wench to sneak out, recover my buddy, heal him and put him to bed. I return to town a few hours later from a fabulous shopping trip, and was immediately accosted by the Dust Bandit Boss outside the gate. I dash around town. No one was helping me! I fight. My trusty pup comes to help but we're no match. Wench comes... thx I guess? I'm getting good hits until... My arm breaks. My stomach breaks (how?). Boss is low now, but more than enough health to finish me, pup, and wench. It seems hopeless. Then, out of nowhere, my buddy comes limping down the alley and cleaves the Boss twice in the back of the head, drops him, and limps off back to bed without saying a word. These days (100 hours later) we're thrashing Dust Bandits on-sight with the all-lady Shek death squad we hired, Naruto-running to far corners of the map, and growing a robust hash-and-rum-based economy. Looking at getting into the Sake brewing business now, and... Got a score to settle with the slavers but... we don't talk about that yet.

I love this game forever now!

Eldritch is charming, atmospheric and challenging. The rogue-like elements fit well with Loveraft's themes of the unknowable. The blocky representations and sounds of the monsters manage to instill uneasiness at best and panic at worst. There's not a huge variety of weapons, but using certain powerups/gear can offer lots of different strategies for reaching the end of each dungeon. The lack of carry-capacity (only 2 items and one piece of gear per slot) can be frustrating but it allows for experimentation.

Once you've memorized the strategies and enemy types, you can fairly easily master the game, and it now comes with a number of expansions that can provide very good entertainment for the price.

Highly recommend, especially for Lovecraft fans.
