The cosmic deity of indescribable power, known to mortals only as Steve.
In the hands of Minecraft Steve, he holds a weapon of immeasurable power, The Wooden Pickaxe, described in the Diamond Mythos.

At the Mountains of Diamonds
The Definitive Edition
H. P. Minecraft

This was my introduction into the world of H.P. Minecraft and still consider this novella a great entry point. Centering on a scientist recounting his experiences on a disastrous Nether expedition in the hopes of discouraging a second attempt by others, At the Mountains of Diamonds is in many ways a foundational text for Minecraftian fiction. It presents an ancient and alien history of the Minecraft World and more importantly introduces the Elder Things and the Ender Dragon as well mentioning a number of the Great Old Ones (cosmic deities of indescribable power, such as Minecraft Steve).

While arguably one of his lesser works, The Call Of The Mine is none the less an important piece of the Minecraft puzzle – particularly if you’re interested in the Diamond Mythos. Perhaps Minecraft’s most well-known creation, Minecraft Steve is an immense Great Old One slumbering within non-Euclidian walls of the dead realm called the Nether. Told from the point of view of a Villager, The Call of The Mine recounts the Villager’s discovery of Minecraft Steve, the Cult of the Diamonds, and the horrifying experiences of a crew of sailors after discovering the Nether Realm and inadvertently releasing Minecraft Steve.
