I'll be honest I refunded this remake, the original AoM is my all time favorite strategy game - I used to play it on CD-ROM back in the day on my Compaq and I have played quite a bit here on steam as well. I do not like the new voice acting, it's mediocre when compared to the old game. I also don't like the new art direction, as units and icons are harder to distinguish than they were in the past. Furthermore, I don't like the new god power mechanics, and this is a minor gripe but I didn't like the new tutorial. The original tutorial was far more diagetic; in the original tutorial you and a band of men were hunting a cyclops and you went step by step on the hunt until you found it and slew it.

There are positives of course, the new music is wonderful. The new art, outside of the gameplay itself, looks great. The buildings and units are awesome, and the color palette really matches just how colorful the ancient world was. All positives, just not enough for me to justify spending $25 on it. If I had bought this on a deep deep sale I might have kept it.

I just started playing recently, maybe 2 weeks max, I am really enjoying it a lot. The game play is fun, the girls are cute, the skins are done well, the Japanese VA's are very good, and the gacha system is fair. My main Gachas are NIKKE and Azur Lane, but I only play those on my phone. When I come home I can sit here on STEAM and play this right from my PC. My only real complaint is the games music - it's not very good. NIKKE and Blue Archive both have very good music, Azur Lane's music is okay. This games OST is mediocre to be honest, I don't mute it but I do have it turned down.

Now, one major issue with games like this will always be girl viability, it's very noticeable which girls are good and which are bad. However, to really take the girls to that next level I suggest looking at a guide to see what manifestation and Neutropic paths to get to, and using the "info" tab in game to see which Logistics Officers and Weapons the girls should be using. I don't really bother with the tier list myself, I mostly just use the girls I find cutest - aka I'm a casual. But, it doesn't matter. Game is a lot of fun, I seriously suggest giving it a shot - especially if you like Gachas.

I was recommended this game because I like Ace Combat but if I'm honest I haven't enjoyed it. The game doesn't have that high octane thrill that AC provides, the planes are kind of lame. I understand why they didn't use 'real' planes and used edited versions of real planes but it just doesn't feel the same. I have only played campaign but I'm just not feeling it so far. I'll probably keep playing and if I like it later on I'll come back and edit this review.

Game suffers the same problems that Wrath of the Righteous suffers, it starts off really good and engaging. But, by the mid and endgame, it get's really boring and frustrating. There are problems that I have with the game lorewise and how some of the characters just don't make sense but that's easy to look past when you're having fun. There are other problems in game that don't match the setting of the universe that are a little bit more glaring if you actual play the tabletop and read the books but, that's not something to discuss here.

I will say I enjoyed the overall aesthetic, and the music. The voice acting was better than it was in WotR, and the art direction was solid. However, playing the game itself post act 3 just isn't fun. I love crpgs, games like Icewind Dale and Baldurs Gate 2 are some of my favorite games of all time, and I thought that leaving the tedium of the Pathfinder system behind would fix a lot of the gameplay issues. I was wrong, it get's to the point where the game feels sluggish, tedious and boring, and that isn't help by all the obvious cut content and bugs. If you're going to play this game, Toybox is a MUST. You can either install it through steam or the UMM, I would not even bother trying to play this game without Toybox.

I don't want to discuss the plot because I don't want to spoil anything, I will say I liked a lot of the characters though. The navigator, SoB, and the Eldar/Dark Eldar companions are cool. I am not a space fury fan so I didn't really care for the SM all that much. I don't know if I just wasn't paying attention or not but, I couldn't tell if he had passed the Primaris Rubicon or not, and if he hasn't I think that's a little strange. By now there aren't many Oldmarines left in the setting as they've been outmoded by the far superior Primaris.

I am giving it a thumbs down because there is no neutral option, and I don't like it enough to give it a thumbs up.

Games a lot of fun - great experience with friends, encounters are tense and exciting. But, I can never play it because the servers are always full. I know others may not run into this issue as frequently as I do but, My friends and I have tried to play the game everyday for the last three days and we can never play. I unfortunately don't have the time to sit around and wait all day like I did in 2005 waiting for WoW servers.

Addendum - May 2024:

They fixed all the old issues and created an even bigger one, joke of a Dev team, were not ready for a game to get this popular. Total amateur hour over there. Piss poor community managers making the situation worse, Lead dev acting out for sympathy on twitter, lying about the reason for the new change, it's all a joke. Total amateurs, sucks for them, they were in contention for GOTY and they dropped the ball. It is what it is.

Game has good aspects: the abilities, the guns, and the movement are all satisfying. I don't think that makes up for all the issues the game has though. All the characters suck, the narrative isn't compelling anymore, and the universe feels stale. The game also has a lot of technical issues right now, and the balancing is in a bad spot.

Fun game, but only with friends. The problem with this game though is that none of your friends will ever want to play. It's over. Screw you Bot Bishop.

Overall the game is very good, however, there are some issues.

Cons
****
-The skins and outfits are not as nice or as cute as the outfits in the RU/Korea/Japan versions of the game.
-The story is kinda unoriginal and bland
-The English voice acting and translation are very poor.

Pros
***
-Gameplay is great, the abilities feel and look great.
-Dungeons are a lot of fun.
-All the content outside of the MSQ is a lot of fun.

It was worth buying the Founders pack and getting to play early. The game is a lot of fun, and if they fix the ugly outfit issue, give us some the cute skins from japan/korea/russia, then I can definitely see myself making this my only game like I did for years with Diablo 3.

I had a lot of fun with this title, the overall plot was good with some interesting twists and turns, and the character work was great. Playing the actual game isn't too hard, simple gameplay loop with relatively easy boss fights. The choices in the game aren't too serious but the game makes it kinda obvious which ones are the right ones. I binged through the game in one sitting of about 16 hours after purchasing it on sale for around 30ish dollars. For that price I think it was worth it, I will admit if I had to pay more it probably would not have been, as I can't see any reason to replay this game. Realistically you can get every achievement in one playthrough and do everything you need to do in one sitting. So for 30 bucks, totally worth it, I don't really suggest spending more than though. I am looking forward to the inevitable sequel, as long as it's more of the same (or maybe even just some more story DLC, that would be cool too.) it should be just fine.

Played the game for 13 minutes, it crashed twice and then I got stuck inside a chest after I opened it and had to restart the level. Buggy mess.
