Heard about counter-strike while playing TFC. Sgt-Slaughter from TFC clan Sgt's was spamming how much TFC sucked and that "Counter-Strike" was going to own. After checking out the site I realized counter-strike wasn't even beta yet. On June 18th 1999 counter-strike beta 1 was released and I was one of many waiting till the 11pm est/8pm pacific release time. After the first 5 minutes of playing on cs_siege I was hooked. I loved the game but quickly got bored. Then after playing beta2 with the new release of the AK47 and the silencers for colt and usp, I knew the game had potential. In beta 3 the addition of the knife and helmet would change the game slightly but I didn't get into the "CS Community" until Beta 4 which changed Counter-Strike forever. Beta 4 came out with a new gameplay type that focused more on teamwork and not on deathmatch. Beta 4 released C4 Missions and Defusion for CT's. I stopped playing counter-strike for a while when 4.1 Beta came out due to the nerfing of the MP5 and the upgrade on the P90. Ever since beta 1 the mp5 was weapon of choice for most skilled cs players. Then they nerfed it and the P90 replaced it. I came back to counter-strike around beta 5 to find myself bunny hopping around corners and amazing accuracy with pistols while in the air. Also in beta 5 you could open doors as ghosts and alive people could see the ghosts as glowing balls in the air. I would quit cs once again with the release of Beta6. With the beta6 release came OGC and a wide popularity in cheating. Im not going to discuss after Beta6 because in my opinion it was the downfall of counter-strike.
