This game isn't Super Meat Boy. It's setting out to accomplish something different.

By removing the controls for running and making this an auto-runner, it's actually much easier to focus on the timing of the only 2 verbs you have - jump and kick. The timing is tight and feels great.

The only thing I don't like is the minigames that are extremely difficult that feel nothing like the core gameplay. I didn't buy Mike Tyson's Punchout and I shouldn't have to be an expert at F-Zero in order to progress in this game.

This is a brutal but fun and fair platformer. Dying doesn't take you out of the action for long.

There's plenty of replayability with the different characters or speedrunning.

Great arcade fun. Generative levels, accumulated upgrades/unlockables for replayability, and a quite difficult endgame all make for a wonderful experience. Minimalist controls and graphics strip out anything extraneous, and the game iterates on its straightforward mechanics for a very challenging, yet approachable game.

This game is fantastic! Non-stop arcade action, with plenty of unlockables to keep you coming back and to challenge you to play outside your comfort zone.

This is an innovative puzzle game, that really makes you think. Great graphics and great controls, as well as a plot that sorta exists if you really, really pay attention.

What more could you ask for?

This game....

The graphics are what they are. They're not horribly ugly, but they're... readable.

The controls. I couldn't play the game. There's so many buttons. So many ***** buttons. I literally couldn't play this game on a controller (I have a Logitec and a Steam Controller) because I didn't have enough buttons to map to the buttons in the game. How many verbs does your character need?

I know I got the game for free, and it may be unfair that I'm posting a negative review, but I literally couldn't wrap my hands around all the verbs the game expects your character to do simultaneously and fluently, on a keyboard or on a controller (without enough buttons). You have to hold down sneak, then run, while moving and hitting different buttons to jump and activate levers and do goodness knows what else. It's clunky at best.

I don't have any nostalgia for this title, and part of me wonders if that is the sole reason this game has positive reviews.

Awesome game. I beat it in 4.5 hours, which is relatively short, but there are plenty of achievements to hunt down, many of the missions are fun to replay in different ways, and there's a level editor, and community levels!

It's fun. The core of the gameplay itself is fun. This is something many games don't always get right, but Gunpoint is spot-on.

The upgrade system is awesome, and if you're not happy with upgrades, you can respec for no cost, which completely removes the stress of weighing which options you may or may not use later on.

The plot is good, makes you think, and really lets carve out your personality through the story. I don't think it actually affects what missions are available for you, but it's cool nonetheless. Or, you can hangup on everyone who talks to you and just play all the missions.

Worth every penny.

It's Chip's Challenge. Does it need an introduction?

This game is awesome for the nostalgia. It was really fun to play back through this game. It has a lot of great, newer features, too, like swappable graphics pallates (which are fun to mess with), different screen resolutions, and control over the BGM and SFX levels.

Some (or many) of the levels, I believe, didn't age very well. They were designed over a decade ago, back when games were a developing medium. Because this game is being presented, as is, however many years later, it's still a dated product. Keep in mind that sometimes the memory of something is often better than the actual thing itself was.

I've been trying to beat every single level, and I do intend to do it. Many of them are easier than I had remembered, many are tests of patience, and many are extremely tedious.

Killer soundtrack. I bought the game about 90% for the soundtrack.

The gameplay is really good, but really hard. It took hours to get through the first boss, and 65 hours in, I still haven't beat the game. The daily challenges are always fun, and there are good secrets if you play optimally and explore.

This is a roguelike done very, very right.
