A wonderful little metroidvania full of mystery, intrigue, exploration and some incredibly fun and addictive puzzles. Easy to beat in a sitting if you're smarter than me, but the egg hunt will continue your explorations even further.

I want to highlight the soundscape in particular. Mysterious, ephemeral and haunting are the only words I can use to describe it.

So basically like Halo 2 and 3 combined.

A wonderfully absurd game that's stylish, exciting and wholly unique. Also the battle theme is a BANGER

A triumph in every form. Decades of CRPGs flow through and are at the core of Larian Studio's Magnum Opus; Baldurs Gate 3. I'm almost 200 hours into one playthrough and all I can think about is what I will build next in this absolute Masterpiece of a game.

Ignore my low playtime on Steam. I played this on PS4 and again with the PS5 upgrade. No story spoilers.

This game is nothing short of a masterpiece. A game that does what I think was impossible in the world of long standing franchises, gaming or otherwise: This game, hell this franchise matured with its audience. The story told is one that meditates on the actions of a character once thought irredeemable, and how those choices and the consequences they brought live with the individual. More importantly than that, how those decisions and the lessons learned can be imparted on the next generation.

First the gameplay: A solid base of action/adventure. Echoes of the franchises more frenetic, hack/slash combat remain, but it slows down, much as the main character has over the years. Does that mean it's slow though? Geriatric? Not at all. Combos are plentiful, with a skill tree that adds important, powerful moves to the kit to expand a simple set of skills into one that can chain stuns and special moves until entire rooms of enemies are dead. Each strike of the Leviathan Axe has an amazing weight and purpose, You truly feel like an old killing machine while using it. Puzzles are puzzles, simplistic but some are very interesting, and the exploration of the land of Midgard and the realms do plenty to keep you invested.

The story, as alluded to above, is nothing short of a triumph. The characters are deep, entertaining. Funny, tragic and overall excellently executed. The themes of parenthood, legacy, overcoming past trauma and moving on from it are handled with care and respect. The land of the Norse is handled with care, the stories of the Edda's that inspired it are adjusted to fit this new interpretation while respecting the tales that have brought the characters on screen to life.

I love this game, and its sequel. If you've never played a God of War game, this is an amazing place to start. 10/10

I'm not one to constantly play a game after it's over. It's usually a one and done process for me, I'll play until I'm done and move on, grateful for the experience.

So the fact that as I type this I'm actively stopping myself from continuing into new game plus and finding more endings, trying new builds and exploring more of this vast, beautiful, terrifying game world is a huge break in character for me. It's only April, but damn if I haven't found my game of the year. Good luck God of War Ragnarok, my mind will always be focused on The Lands Between.

The pinnacle of all of Supergiant Games' previous works. A masterpiece of visual style, gameplay, story and music. It's fun from the word go and only gets better and better as you progress further and further. 10/10 would go back to hell again and again and again

The first good single player Star Wars game in a long time. The combat evokes SoulsBorne games with markedly less depth, but it's punchy and fluid and fun. The story is low stakes, lower than most Star Wars stories which is a refreshing change compared to the bombastic tone of the movies. Exploration is a blast, combat is fun and engaging, and the story, while the weakest link, is perfectly passable. Highly recommended if you're looking to jump back into the galaxy far far away.

I play D&D a lot. This feels like playing D&D but you're controlling 4 characters and the DM is fudging their rolls.
