The writing is sharp and funny, but serious when it needs to be. The choices you can make feel like they will have weight to things in the future even if they possibly won't. I constantly feel the need to think about all of choices in dialogue to think of what the outcome could lead to. That is also where the game shines, letting you be as nice, mean, lawful, lawless or somewhere in the middle, as you choose to be, and the characters remember how you treat them and will react to you in accordance. If you are looking for an action game this isn't it. But if you are looking for something that resembles a table top detective story with fleshed out side characters and a wonderfully fleshed out world then I would definitely say give Disco Elysium a go.
