$7 sale can't say no. i own this from other app stores already but just throwing my support behind the devs for the updates.
not seeing any of the crashes other users commented on. I am Windows 11 22H2 with GTX 1070 eGPU on a HP Spectre x360 laptop. did career mode and sandbox for a few sessions and no issues for me.

super fun game. great time waster.

Game is a classic. I recommend to all, however... as of this writing (Aug 2022)
No longer working in Windows v 10 or v11
The new Mac version with Metal support runs great though.

This must be one of the most re-playable games I have owned.
I just replayed it with zero DLC and it was still fun. You can uninstall for months and then grab it again and it is still engaging. I did not expect to enjoy this game as much as I have, it really is well made.

This game is pretty hard on the normal setting. I think that's why there are so many bad reviews. People don't really want Railroad Tycoon with better graphics, do they? I did not expect this game to be involving shootouts with horseback train robbers, but it has that.
The game is frustrating but it is fun. I can see how it may not be everyones cup of tea, I rage closed it a few times. I really lost on the easy setting too. It makes you mad. That's why there's so many bad reviews. it's not a bad game, it just makes you mad a little bit and I think that's OK. it's interesting. It's a different take on a railroad related game to play and that's is a good thing

This game is fun. Slightly different style than recent releases, but still true to it's heart. And by that I mean my squads can't hit anything they fire at and everybody dies all the time. So yeah, it's a lot of fun. I hate it. I hate it like I hated the old ones and spend some 300 odd hours playing because it's fun to hate how bad my squads are at their jobs.

I always felt this version had much better replay value than the Civ IV modded version.

As it ages, this one gets a bit more difficult to play, as the text is hard to read at times.

I plan to program a steam controller to this and see if popping around the map on the pad would make this experience more enjoyable... to be continued

I really enjoyed Tropico 4. i picked it up during the Steam sale when the price dropped once Maxis upset everyone about SimCity. I played this in windows a lot, then I bought it on the Mac App store so I wouldn't have to reboot to play it. I kept coming back to the Win Steam Special Edition as it had more options to build from. This works great as a city manager game and gives you that extra El Presidente touch with the interesting options like the secret police. a very fun game, i highly recommend for players of all kinds. This game would appeal to anyone with a great sense of humor and a cold war complex.

Kings Quest Collection has been a lot of fun.

****FIXED Summer 2017 ! They have replaced the versions used and updated some sources for better compatibility****

original review:

Unfortunately, Steam is using the wrong versions of these classics.

There is a patch on the sierra help website that you can use to update the games. They will play with less errors.

I am using 64-bit Windows 8 on a MacBook Pro. The last game 7 did not work for me, but others have been able to make it work on a similar setup using the patches.

KQ1 is only the new version, they omitted the classic original, which is very sad I think, you should have the option of both.

This has been a lot of fun and I'm glad I picked these up, even though I own them all already on their original formats, I am glad to support Activision letting these classic games come back out there for the fans on Steam

It took me a few attempts to really get into this game. I kept going back to the old Sid Meier Railroad Tycoons II and III because this game just wasn't fun at first and it left me wanting what those 15 year old games had.

Maybe it was the default maps, but when they released additional DLC like maps and metro stations, I started to enjoy this game. It's been my most played game for the last month.

The secret is in building small. You really feel like you should set it up like actual Manhattan buses, long stretches of bus routes that circle back to themselves. This does not work. The best way is to have short bus routes that supplement metro stations and trolleys.

This will probably be my favorite game of this year, I don't see myself getting away from it, it's a lot of fun, even if I didn't think so at first.

This game is classic. I use Windows pretty much just to play this game. The Mac version was PowerPC so it doesn't work on modern Macs. The PC version runs great in Win95 compatibility mode in XP and Windows 7. I was not able to play this in Windows 8 Dev Ed.

** update - released version of Windows 8 works great with this **
