Bastion is a fantastic game that needs to be experienced. It provides:

-An arsenal of weapons that are given to you throughout the game at a very good pace. Being curious to what the weapons could be and their functions gave me a lot of motivation to keep going.
-Fantastic narration, voice acting was done perfectly. Narration gives descriptions of the main protagonists, "The Kid", actions throughout the world and explains the story throughout the play through.
-Very well stylised art style. Everything about how the game looks is very unique and detailed. The detail in the environments and wildlife of Bastion immerses the player in the world and lore of the Bastion.
-Story is very well done and complimented by both the narration and the lore of the world. It contains a very good amount of mystery that keeps the player compelled to explore and further unravel the "Calamity."
-You can have two weapons on you that you can switch between in combat allowing the player to choose his or her play style. To test your proficiency with the weapon there are proving grounds and they are arenas that will test your ability to use that weapon with the goal being a 3-Tier prize. Proving grounds, like all the areas in Bastion, contain its own lore and once you have achieved first prize in the proving grounds you gain an attachment towards that weapon and area because of the hardships endured by the player to get first prize.
-The difficulty in the game can be modified through shrines which allow you to choose certain gods that have different things that increase difficulty in exchange for a fragment increase. This was a very good way to put more depth into combat as you would have to become more cautious and think about the situation and how to handle it depending on your chosen shrines.
-The soundtrack is very well done and has to heard along with gameplay to be experienced fully. It is able to give another layer of immersion and intensity in combat situations.
-There is a combat mechanic called counter-blocking that allows the player to return the damage of an enemy's attack back to them with a well-timed block. This mechanic was very satisfying and felt very good when done in the chaos of combat.

As with all games Bastion does have its flaws:
-Combat gets repetitive with some weapons containing only one primary function "shoot" while others contain a "shoot" and "charge" modifier. Whilst the combat scenarios were technically different combat had lost its satisfaction near the end.
-Without the use of shrines the game became to easy especially if you upgraded your weapons and combat wasn't as satisfying. The difficulty curve is very evident and done logically but the combat was still too easy without the use of shrines.
