Overall very fun and snappy gameplay, but destructible environment is mostly just confusing and unnecessary in this genre.

the scummy mobile game level of MTX overload in this game is pathetic

completely free seasonal content updates are amazing

fun casual FPS. recommended to bring some friends to play with though as your average matchmade teammates play with only one hand because they gotta hold their bong in the other.

The campaign was half assed and frustrating because of Bungie's typical cryptic storytelling only creating more questions where we expected answers.

Strand is underwhelming and while the grapple is fun its cooldown makes it utterly useless.

Armor affinities being removed was great but the new armor mods are pathetically weak and dumbed down compared to the previous system.

Guardian Rank is a joke of a system because literally everyone is a rank 6 "Veteran" no matter if they have thousands of hours in the game or started playing yesterday. Nobody gives a ♥♥♥♥ about the rep system either.

co-op PVE is fun, PVP unplayable. The servers are so bad you can't even save loadouts sometimes, it just resets everything to default because the connection randomly timed out.

Is good. Very, very good.

Worthy successor to the first game. Was alot of fun playing with a friend.

An MMO Looter Shooter with lots of content and lots of flaws.

There's no harm to trying it out since the base game is F2P, but you'll probably get overwhelmed as a new player by all the quests, items, bounties, weapons, gear, story, lore and space magic lingo thrown at you without any real explanation. The intro questline for new players (called "New Light") got big improvements recently but is still way too shallow to actually make you understand what you're supposed to do and chase in this game. I'm not going to explain any of that here since there are already more than enough guides on this out there. I just want to make you aware that you're probably going to need help if you want to achieve anything meaningful.

All of this said, if you have friends or a clan to regularly play with (or you're fine with LFG) and you like shooting aliens in the face with a massive variety of weapons, unique armor sets and builds and one of the best feeling gunplays in any FPS ever, you're gonna have a blast. In that case the DLCs are also well worth it for their added content, especially endgame stuff like raids, which are one of the best activities this game has to offer.

For me, Destiny 2 is the best game in the Looter Shooter genre to this day, but it's still far from being perfect and I can only hope that Bungie acknowledges its core flaws one day and releases some big overhauls to finally make Destiny the definitive action MMO it's meant to be.
