Trails of the Black Sun is a parkour platformer with shooting elements in it. While the game itself has inspiration from games like Tron / Assassin's Creed (computer simulation) or Mirrors Edge (colored highlighted obstacles) it builds a story on its own.
The games main goal is to find the artefact in the simulated level, which can be high up or somewhere in the map behind some mechanics (doors).

For for the actual gameplay: Wallrunning is mostly a piece of cake other mechanics needs just one button press. So nothing where you really need to train your skills to master the game.
On Level 3 where sliding got introduced to the player, when you are failing it. The moving cubes are getting out of sync and there is no escape in failing this particular part over and over, which was quite disappointing at one point.
After a break and a good amount of coffee we had over come that problem.

While we finished the whole game, this was onliest problem we had been encountered during our playthru for the movement. Mean while the game increased from the shooting difficulty on the second level, because of the hit prediction. Where bullets where not hitting the enemey, while they were hitting you all the time.
This was just a small set back to get the player adjusted in playstyle.
After all was settle and the change in playstyle, we could finish the game.

Since the game is setup being a simulation, the overall asthetic style of the game(menu, level design and effects) are fitting directly to it. Level simulations are decoded directly from serveral textblocks which gives you as a player an immersion to be in a simulation or using somekind of simulation device.
For explorers the game uses some sort of skilling mechanic. You can find points over the whole level and you can seek for secrets to find more points. With the points you can buy upgrades for your weapons or upgrade your suite with colors, armor or points multiply factor.
Sound effects and music had been used in a good way to build up the style of the simulation.

We could still play the game longer since we haven't found all the secrets in the levels but overall the game felt pretty short.
But seeing the Credits, short is not really accurate. Since it was developed by one person.

Its not the perfect game and some would say, copied ideas from Mirrors Edge or Tron / Assassin's Creed. In the end its not.
Rebel Graphix used an idea / theme in their own way instead of copying a game. Which was kind of refreshing.

Would we recommend the game? Sure if you like movement type games or parkour games, you should test it. If it is really something for you? Its up to you!

Review based on game version 1.0.4

Panzer Ball is a fast paced bhop game in early access and is free to play.
Where other mods are failing to get a competition going on. Panzer Ball is fixing this with integrated Steam Leaderboards.
The only down side of it, you can't watch the run of the loaderboards for now (hopefully this will be a feature in a later version)
Spectating someone felt laggy maybe that could be an issue from the server hoster or the player itself.
But didn't ruin the gameplay for us.

----

Coming from the cs1.6 movement scene, i got every fast attracted to the game while playing it.
The movement felt quite similiar but hard to handle because we are playing a Ball.
Sometimes we have to avoid lasers or trying to drive the ball thru a narrow path.

With the multiplayer component, you can even invite your jumping friends to have a lovely, laughable challegene.

We from Climbers-Germany will for sure follow the further developement of this game, because it we like the concept.

A short review but everything is said with the actual version as of 06-14-2020
The game is free in the actual early access version. So i did not receive any compensation for writing this review. The review is based on my own opinion and were not influenced in any way.

Exhaust is a deathrun style game not in early access but fully released with only one Level. More should come? As descripted in the shop and in the chapter select.
You can fully speedrun the game and also can play in co-op with up to 3 friends.
Sadly there is no leaderboard yet and at the date of 03-16-2020 only one level
-----

But let's talk about the game and why i don't recommend it at the moment:
You start in a cell from where we go into your deathrun escape of the prison.
We have to escape fire traps, jump on moving stones/platform or avoid moving death traps.
Nothing that we had already seen in different games.
If you don't use your shiftkey you just walk around and are too slow to jump over the traps.
Respawning denies your flow, because it takes ages to get you spawned again and the traps doesn't get reset to the origin state. Which means you have to time it differently everytime as a runner.
The game has a speedrun mode, which is not special in any way. Its just the normal mode with a timer. (Hopefully for now)

But what does Exhaust doing right?
Well Exhaust is trying to build some sort of a story up and the art is tremendously good for such a project / indie game.
The Leveldesign is simple and detailed with a good atmosphere.
Co-op playing with up to 3 friends (which is rare in those games)

For now that's it. With the right changes (leaderboard, different respawn mechanic) then i could recommend the game.
When you look for a good singleplayer game with good use of art, then go for the game. You won't be disappointed.

I bought the game myself. So i did not receive any compensation for writing this review. The review is based on my own opinion and were not influenced in any way.

Extricate is a fast paced movement platformer, similiar to Counter-Strike's 1.6 deathrun maps except that you don't have sometimes enemeys who needs to press the buttons to trigger the obstacles.
Like in any other platformer or parkour games, you can run, jump and crouch or you can gain and maintain speed with bunnyhopping thru the course.
You need those abilitys to about obstacles such as lasers, spikes and sawblades. also you can use jump pads gain hights.
The courses are linear build and they haven't much room for shortcuts because its all about the obstacles which you need to avoid.
A simple Hud is aiding you thru the course with a speedometer and a timer for the leaderboard.

When you are finished compare your time in the leaderboard against other players or your friends.
Watch the replays of the players over the leaderboard to get hints to improve your time or your playstyle.

For such a small dev team, it is one of the fewiest gems on steam, which is a must have for players which like any platformer or parkour games.

I received a key for doing playtests. So i did not receive any compensation for writing this review. The review is based on my own opinion and were not influenced in any way.

What da heck is Kreedz Climbing?
Well Kreedz is the name of the author of the counter-strike 1.6 map tag KZ.

Kreedz is a jumping type map genre in Counter-Strike with the release of Half-Life 2 KZmod was born.
Kreedz Climbing is now the standalone version of KZmod, which emulates the 1.6 movement.

If you are not familiar with such jumping maps or platformers. Its easy to describt it.
Just imagine to jump up a giant bean where you might find jack and the giants. But you will not find the giants instead you will find a stop button to stop the time.

And thats what Kreedz Climbing is. Be fast, be the fastest and don't make mistakes by falling of a ledge.

With Kreedz Climbing you will also get the typical famous maptypes:
  • Surf
  • HnS(Hide and Seek)

So if you dont like to jump around anymore just join another server and surf it out? Or play tag arena which is similiar to HnS.

Are you finished? Trade your medals in the shop to get special perks or unholster your paint tool and be the next Picaso.

Turning a good coop game into crap

First of all, PD2 was a very good coop game. 4 humans vs ai with different difficulties.
But after the crimefest with the blackmarket update, bad decisions had been made.

Here to follow up:
  • Overkill said no microtransaction ever
  • Completely Overkill Pack (COP) - which should had been similiar to tips/donations to the developer with special features for the customer to keep the development of the game ongoing
  • Delaying serveral times the COP DLC with lack of information
  • Blackmarket update during crimefest introducing (Safes and drills got in the game similiar like the csgo cases and keys) (Helping the developer to keep the development up. Wasn't the overpriced COP dlc enought?)
  • Releasing COP with a 25weapon Safe(only one weapon possible to get) and adding 5DLCs which the current COP buyer has already bought. If you refund it you will lose the 5 paid DLCS.

Since OVK is not communicating to the communitybase with the latest decision and updates, they got the community ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ at the moment and its not coming from the press which OVK is accusesing.

Money over the satisfaction of the playerbase is no good!

if you think you got betrayed aswell get the message out and insert the line yourself aswell in the reviews: Money over the satisfaction of the playerbase is no good![/][/code]
