I have over 400 hours in Darktide, after over 1900 hours in Vermintide 2. I've had my money's worth many times over. This game earned some well-deserved criticism on release, but the core gameplay has always been good.

The game has improved a lot since initial release, and the upcoming skill tree rework release should be a big improvement on top of that. This game is underrated.

This is the best melee game I've played so far. Lots of playstyle variety, reasonably replayability, and surprisingly deep gameplay.

It's a challenging game to learn. The "real" game doesn't start until the third difficulty level, champion. Until then you can mostly just press W and spam LMB to win. In my experience, all the fun of the game was hidden behind difficulty increases that initially seemed impossible because the previous difficulty hadn't taught me any of what I needed to know to succeed in the next one. Community guides help bridge the gap, but you have to go out of your way to find them.

But if you can find your way through that, the gameplay can be virtuosic as you learn to fluently combine different attacks as you block, push, and dodge you way through masses of lethal enemies.

Some people complain about "paywalls" and microtransactions. I think this is unfair. As of this moment, the base game includes 20 maps, 15 careers and all but 12 weapons. Various DLCs give you access to the additional weapons, seven more maps, one more career, various achievements and cosmetics, and an entirely different game mode with remixed maps. Even if you don't have the DLCs, another player in your lobby who does have the DLCs can queue up a DLC map for you.

You can argue about the value of the DLCs, but you're not forced to buy them. If you enjoy the game enough to spend the many hundreds of hours it will take to get all the possible achievements, perhaps it's worth it to you to spend a few extra dollars to get the DLCs that unlock those achievements. If you appreciate the three maps they added for free, perhaps it's worth it to you to spend a few dollars on a silly hat. Yes, many of the paid cosmetics are relatively expensive. But that allows for other gameplay content to be free or inexpensive, so I'm all for it.

No developer is going to continue investing effort in a game without some way to fund that work. There's lots of reasons to criticize the game and the developer here, but I don't think this game has a problem with microtransactions or paywalls.

I didn't do my homework before buying this, so I didn't realize this game is essentially a single mission/map with a bunch of variations in objectives. Sort of like Grand Theft Auto on a much, much smaller scale. Keep in mind that there's a lot less content here than what you might expect from a major game release.

That said, the game is impressively well crafted and polished. I liked the Splinter Cell series more, and I'd generally say you're better off putting your money on those games if you haven't tried them yet, but this was a fun gaming experience and I'd recommend this game to stealth shooter fans.

Pile of crap. Clunky, on-rails shooter taking the worst of Tom Clancy games, Call of Duty, and Gears of War and combining it all together into something utterly un-fun. I was prepared for a somewhat frustrating console port, but this was way worse than I'd imagined. Don't waste your money like I did.

Or go ahead and do. Just so long as you install it and try it right away so you can immediately take advantage of Steam's new refund policy.

Excellent tactical shooter. Rewards careful, co-ordinated gameplay instead of rambo/twitch play. Most game modes have a good balance of respawn options to keep your downtime to a reasonable minimum if you can't help but rush recklessly, or if you're new. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, ARMA and similar games.

I'm a hardcore shooter fan, which puts Payday at a disadvantage in my books. But this is one of the best arcade shooters I've played. It's a decent solo game, an excellent co-op game, and the character/team building metagame adds fantastic depth. Emphatically recommended.

Very, very fun arcade shooter. Even singleplayer is fun, but co-op is an absolute blast.

I wish it was a little more hardcore, but it's very fun! Would recommend to any FPS fan.

Very entertaining game with an engaging story. I'd consider playing through it again some day.

Meh.

I liked Farcry 1, and I've enjoyed Farcry 3 so far. I usually love open-world games but this one just felt tedious nearly the whole time I played it. Don't bother, I'd say.

Soooooooo much more fun (so far) than Farcry 2, which I lost interest in within the first hour. I'm not sure if this game has the staying power for me to play through the whole campaign, but I already feel I've got my money's worth out of it and I'd very much like to check out co-op play.
