This game is a very hard one to recommend. On one hand, its a classic that, visually, has aged extremely well. Probably better than any other game from 2004 even. The controls, movement, and gunplay is also perfect. When the game drops you into a jungle and you're hiding in bushes scouting out mercenary camps with your binoculars, planning your own guerrilla war against the mercs in a huge open environment with tons of different ways to complete your objectives, its a total blast. Easily some of the best gameplay ive ever played in any game, its seriously tons of fun.

But then crytek decided to just put that to a total halt to change the game into a linear b movie sci fi horror game about tanky mutants that murder you extremely quickly. It comes completely out of nowhere and completely changes the tone of the game. Unfortunately, the level design and combat completely tanks with this new shift. You would think Crytek wouldnt do this again, but they managed to do it with every single crysis game also. It's really frustrating, because when this game is good, its extremely good. but when its not, its terrible. I have to give it a 5/10 because it straddles from 10/10 and 0/10 throughout and just makes for a frustrating game.
